Abstract

The amount of violence and harassment that women still experience in the workplace shows that there is no safe and comfortable place for women in the public environment, especially the workplace. The 2023 International Labour Organisation (ILO) Survey results also indicate that Indonesia is among the nations experiencing an emergency scenario of workplace violence. Based on this background, the research aims to shed light on the reality of workplace violence and harassment against women from a gender perspective. The literature review method was employed in this study. This approach uses numerous references from books, articles, and earlier research journals. This study used secondary data for its data collection. International journal databases like Google Scholar, Pubmed, Researchget, and Crossref were used for journal searches. The terms "violence and harassment of women in the workplace" and "violence against women at the workplace" are used in the search for data sources. The findings of the research point to the complexity of the issue of violence and harassment against women in the workplace, which is influenced by a variety of individual factors, structures, and norms. Through the individual aspect, it is understood that women are always portrayed by inherent gender stereotypes that can lead to violence and harassment. Meanwhile, through the aspects of structure and norms, it is understood that there is a role of power relations and hierarchical structures attached to gender identity in shaping an environment that allows violence and harassment to occur. A strategic step that can be taken is to incorporate the institutionalisation of gender issues coupled with an understanding of gender from the human side to place every gender, both women and men, together to feel safe.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of multicultural education based on local values in the multiethnic community of Kayu Aro. Kayu Aro is home to various ethnic groups, including Kerinci, Javanese, Minangkabau, and Batak, who have long coexisted in shared social, cultural, and economic spaces. Although this diversity has given rise to harmonious social practices such as interethnic cooperation, tolerance toward cultural traditions, and the use of Javanese as a lingua franca, these values have not yet been systematically integrated into the formal educational process. As a result, lessons on diversity in schools often remain abstract and detached from the students’ lived experiences. This research adopts a mixed methods approach, with concurrent triangulation design. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and field observations, while quantitative data were obtained through student surveys measuring their understanding of multicultural values. The findings show that local values possess strong potential to serve as a foundation for multicultural education, particularly in fostering students’ awareness of the importance of coexistence in a plural society. However, the absence of structured efforts to incorporate these local narratives into school curricula and teaching strategies remains a significant barrier. This study recommends the integration of local values into school practices as a contextualized and culturally responsive approach to multicultural education one that is equitable, experience-based, and rooted in the social realities of students. Keywords: Multicultural Education, Local Values, Multiethnic Society, Contextual Learning

Abstract

There is an imbalance between intellect and maturity; children of the current generation are growing in maturity more than in intellect. This research aims to understand the concept of social deviance and the notion of maturity from the perspective of pre-adolescents, to explore the implementation of maturity education for pre-adolescents, and to identify the efforts made by pre-adolescents to prevent social deviance. The research used a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach, involving 623 junior high school students aged 11-15 as respondents. The purposive sampling technique is used to select respondents who are considered to have relevant information. Data was collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire and open-ended questions, then analyzed using percentage techniques. The research results indicate that education for adolescents has a significant impact on reducing the tendency for deviant social behavior among teenagers. A total of 68,65%of teenagers reported performing their religious duties on time, 66,3% are able to distinguish between good and bad, and 65,6% are capable of making the right decisions. Education for adolescents helps teenagers understand religious values, build moral awareness, develop independence, and control emotions, which serve as protective factors against deviant behaviors such as promiscuity, violence, and substance abuse. This research emphasizes the importance of education for adolescents in shaping their character to be socially and individually responsible. Keywords: education, social deviance, aqil puberty
