Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to enhance the capacity of 30 geography teachers in island schools in Ambon City to develop learning media based on local potential that reflects the region’s geographical characteristics. The activity was motivated by the limited use of contextual media that mirrors students’ real environments. Its goal was to empower teachers to design and utilize learning media that strengthen students’ spatial understanding. The method included participatory mentoring, three-month technical workshops, and classroom implementation. Results showed a 40% improvement in teachers’ ability to design interactive media, a 35% increase in student engagement, and the emergence of school initiatives to build inter-teacher collaboration. The program demonstrated a significant contribution to strengthening locally rooted education in island regions. The approach is recommended for sustainable implementation in other island-based schools across Eastern Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the giving question and getting answer learning model on IPAS learning outcomes in fourth grade elementary school students. This study uses pre-experimental research that examines the effect of the giving question and getting answer learning model on IPAS learning outcomes in fourth grade students at SD Negeri 29 Ambon. The research design used is a one group pretest and posttest design. The sample used consisted of 19 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 29 Ambon. The research instruments used were observation, tests, and documentation. Furthermore, the data analysis technique used validation and reliability tests as well as prerequisite analysis tests. The results showed that: 1) The application of the Giving Question and Getting Answer cooperative learning model was very effective in the learning process, 2) By comparing the sig value and the degree of freedom, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted because the Sing value of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates that the application of the Giving Question and Getting Answer learning model has a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has encouraged innovative use of learning media in elementary schools, including Social Studies, a subject often challenged by low student motivation and engagement. This study aimed to examine the effect of Canva on Social Studies learning outcomes in grade V at SD Kristen Lermatang. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 22 grade V students. The instrument was a multiple-choice test whose validity was assessed using Product Moment correlation and reliability measured by Cronbach's Alpha at 0.840. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain test. Results showed that the mean pretest score of 61.64 increased to 80.64 on the posttest. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of H₁, indicating a significant effect of the Canva application on student learning outcomes. The mean N-Gain score of 0.7094 or 70.94% was categorized as high. It is concluded that the Canva application significantly and effectively improves Social Studies learning outcomes of grade V students at SD Kristen Lermatang and is recommended as an innovative technology-based learning medium in elementary schools. ABSTRAK Perkembangan teknologi digital mendorong inovasi dalam penggunaan media pembelajaran di sekolah dasar, termasuk pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) yang kerap menghadapi tantangan rendahnya motivasi dan keterlibatan peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh aplikasi Canva terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas V SD Kristen Lermatang. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 22 peserta didik kelas V SD Kristen Lermatang. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes pilihan ganda yang telah diuji validitas menggunakan korelasi Product Moment dan diuji reliabilitasnya menggunakan Cronbach's Alpha dengan nilai 0,840. Analisis data meliputi uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji paired sample t-test, dan uji N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 61,64 meningkat menjadi 80,64 pada posttest. Uji paired sample t-test menghasilkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima, yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan aplikasi Canva terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik. Nilai rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,7094 atau 70,94% termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi Canva berpengaruh secara signifikan dan efektif terhadap hasil belajar IPS peserta didik kelas V SD Kristen Lermatang, sehingga dapat direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi yang inovatif di sekolah dasar.
