Abstract

Jelekong Art Village in Bandung Regency, West Java, is a cultural destination known as a center for painting and traditional art. However, the potential of art and potential of art and culture in this area has not been fully recognized by the wider community due to the limited effective promotional media. This research aims to design a publication media that can increase the visibility of Kampung Seni Jelekong Art Village, as well as supporting the promotion of local art and culture potential to the community. The method used is a visual communication design approach with qualitative data analysis through interviews and observations to local communities, artists, and tourists. The results showed the need for publication media that is interactive and informative publication media, such as catalogs, brochures, posters. Abstract

In Sundanese culture, there is a philosphy called masagi which focuses on perfection and integration of life experience, however with shock, anxiety, and trauma, this perfectionis is difficult to achieve. To protect ego from feelings of anxiety and traumatic experience faced by humans, ego defense mechanisms emerged. Thie seven of ego defense mechanisms is a tool for humans to manage their emotions and inner shocks that are felt when triggered by one thing or another. In this thesis, the author aims to represent Sigmund Freud’s five ego defense mechanisms through symbolism of things or objects that close to human daily life as a place to reflect on one’s identity and personality. The creation methods used in this work include data collection, incubation, elimination and verification stages. Each work created contains a mask as an individual’s personal symbol. This painting is presented with a still life painting approach in a realist style using oil paint on canvas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji proses perancangan video edukasi Chinese Painting sebagai aset dokumentasi visual di Sentra Seni Jelekong, Kabupaten Bandung. Fokus penelitian adalah (1) merancang dan memproduksi video edukasi yang sistematis dan informatif mengenai teknik, alat, dan filosofi Chinese Painting; (2) menganalisis efektivitas video sebagai media pembelajaran dan arsip budaya untuk komunitas seni lokal; dan (3) mengevaluasi dampak implementasi video terhadap praktik seni di Jelekong. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif-desisif dengan teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi partisipatif, wawancara semi-struktural, dokumentasi, dan uji coba pengguna. Hasil rancangan berupa video berdurasi 10–12 menit yang mengintegrasikan elemen demonstratif, naratif, dan grafis edukatif. Evaluasi uji coba terhadap 30 responden (seniman, mahasiswa DKV, dan masyarakat umum) menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman teknis sebesar 78% dan persepsi nilai dokumentasi budaya sebesar 84% dibanding kondisi awal. Video juga berfungsi sebagai referensi visual untuk pelatihan lanjutan dan dokumen arsip digital Sentra Seni Jelekong. Temuan menggarisbawahi pentingnya integrasi praktik lintas-budaya dalam kurikulum komunitas seni serta pemanfaatan media audio-visual untuk pelestarian budaya.
