Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is inseparable from the clarity of their definitions and presentation in textbooks. One fundamental concept that frequently appears in school curricula, from elementary, middle, and high school levels, is the constant π (phi) in the topic of circles. Mathematically, π is an irrational number obtained from the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. However, in practical learning, the value of π is often simplified to or 3.14. This practical presentation has the potential to lead to misconceptions in students, namely, that they assume π is a rational number. This study used qualitative methods with document analysis techniques in the "Happy Learning Mathematics" book. The results of the analysis indicate an emphasis on the use of the value π = or 3.14 without explaining its irrational nature. As a result, students tend to memorize practical formulas and numbers without understanding that these two values are only approximations and that π is an irrational number with infinite decimal places.

Abstract

This research was conducted to assess the quality of Scaffolding and visualization in the presentation of the Mathematics Module material for Grade X KD 3.2 regarding 3D vector material. The approach used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach, which is carried out by analyzing the structure of the material, illustrations, example questions, and exercises provided in the module using content analysis techniques. The focus of the analysis conducted leads to several main aspects, including: (1) The sequence and form of Scaffolding presented as support in understanding the concept gradually, and (2) The effectiveness of visualization to help define and organize spatial vector data in space. This research resulted in a finding that the module has used Scaffolding with a tiered presentation of concepts, starting from the initial stage, namely the introduction of vector material in space to the stage of applying operations on vectors. However, on the other hand, it was also found that there are several stages of this Scaffolding that are not consistent, namely in the transition from examples to exercises which require a higher level of independence. Based on the visualization, the module utilizes spatial coordinate diagrams and vector arrow representations. However, some visuals lack detail in depicting orientation and depth in space, potentially leading to misconceptions among students. Overall, the module provides sufficient support for learning, but further strengthening of conceptual visualizations and more systematic Scaffolding is needed to optimally facilitate students' spatial thinking.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology and social media has brought significant changes to the Muslim fashion industry, particularly in how the younger generation perceives Muslimah attire. For Generation Z, Muslimah fashion is no longer seen merely as a religious obligation but has shifted into a lifestyle, an aesthetic trend, and an expression of self-identity. This study aims to analyze Generation Z female students' understanding of modern Muslimah fashion trends and assess their alignment with Islamic Sharia principles, including the indicators of covering the awrah, the prohibition of tabarruj (excessive adornment), and the principle of modesty. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires distributed to ten Muslimah students at the State University of Medan (UNIMED) via Google Forms. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns in respondents' understanding of Islamic dress codes, their views on modern fashion trends, and the external factors influencing their personal style. The results indicate that most respondents have a relatively good understanding of the fundamental principles of dressing in Islam, particularly regarding the obligation to cover the awrah, the use of non-transparent materials, and avoiding overly tight clothing. However, the development of modern Muslimah fashion trends, heavily influenced by social media and popular culture, occasionally leads to fashion practices that do not fully comply with Sharia principles, such as imperfect hijab styles or looks that emphasize excessive ornamentation. Therefore, a balance between fashion aesthetics and religious values is necessary to ensure thatthe evolution of Muslimah attire remains aligned with the core principles of Islamic Sharia.
