Abstract

Early childhood education is a fundamental stage in shaping children's cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development. However, learning practices in many early childhood institutions still rely on conventional methods that make children passive and less engaged. This community service program was implemented at PAUD Alamanda in Padamaju Village with a focus on introducing color concepts through play-based learning strategies. The objective of this program was to enhance the quality of science learning that is more interactive, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate, while also strengthening teachers’ capacity in designing innovative learning strategies. The method applied was Participatory Action Research, conducted in several stages including observation and coordination, teacher training, implementation of play activities with children, and reflection and evaluation. The results revealed that children became more enthusiastic, successfully recognized primary and secondary colors, and demonstrated improvements in fine motor skills, creativity, and social interaction. Teachers also gained new insights into the application of more varied and innovative teaching methods. Overall, this program successfully bridged the gap between early childhood education theories emphasizing play-based learning and classroom practices, and contributed positively to the improvement of early childhood education quality.

Abstract

School cleanliness is a fundamental aspect in creating a healthy, comfortable, and character-based learning environment. This community service activity aims to raise students’ awareness of the importance of maintaining school environmental hygiene through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach conducted at MDTA Nurul Huda, Padamaju Village, Pagelaran District, Cianjur Regency. The activity consisted of several stages: observation, educational counseling, collaborative cleaning activities, and participatory evaluation. The results show an increased awareness among students of the importance of cleanliness, a more organized school environment, and active involvement of teachers and students in maintaining school facilities. Teachers served as role models who significantly influenced students’ clean habits. The activity also affirmed the integration of Islamic values in hygiene education, aligning with the principle of an-nadhafah minal iman (cleanliness is part of faith). Therefore, the school cleanliness education program at MDTA Nurul Huda is not merely a physical cleaning action but also a sustainable form of character education based on spiritual and social values.

Abstract

The urgency of cultivating reading literacy habits in children aged 0–2 years amid the challenges of the digital era can significantly influence their learning patterns. This study aims to examine strategies for fostering reading literacy habits in children aged 0–2 years. The research method used is a literature review. The results show that early reading habits strengthen the emotional bond between children and parents, stimulate early language development, and foster an interest in literacy. The role of parents as the main facilitators is crucial. The study emphasizes that early literacy should be integrated through both traditional methods and the wise use of digital technology. The research suggests active parental involvement, the provision of age-appropriate reading materials, and the use of safe literacy applications for children. This study contributes to literacy-based parenting in the digital era. Thus, early literacy can be sustainably instilled to support the optimal development of children aged 0–2 years.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the Hafiz Doll as a supporting medium for introducing the memorization of short prayers to children aged 1–3 years within the family environment. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, involving one child aged 2.5 years with parents serving as the primary facilitators. The findings indicate that the use of the Hafiz Doll elicited initial child responses, including more focused attention, positive emotional engagement, and simple verbal repetition of prayer sounds. These results suggest that doll-based media incorporating audio and visual stimulation can function as a supportive tool for habituating prayer practices at the early stages of child development. The contribution of this study lies in providing an empirical portrayal of the use of interactive religious media in the context of spiritual learning for children aged 1–3 years in the home setting, with particular emphasis on the role of parental guidance and the contextual limitations of the study.

Abstract

Digital transformation demands adaptive classroom management; however, the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic higher education has not yet been structured into a human-centered model that considers pedagogical, ethical, and humanistic values. This study aims to analyze the needs of digital classroom management and to formulate a contextual Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence model for Islamic higher education. The research employed a qualitative approach with conceptual development studies through interviews, classroom observations, academic documentation, and interpretive thematic data analysis. The findings suggest that classroom management is confronted with difficulties stemming from diverse student capabilities, fluctuations in learning engagement, and inadequate utilization of learning data. To mitigate these issues, a Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Model was developed, incorporating learning analytics, adaptive recommendation systems, and humanistic pedagogical tenets grounded in Islamic educational principles. This model designates educators as the principal decision-makers, with AI functioning as a data-driven support system. The model's implementation could potentially augment learning efficacy, personalize the learning experience, and sustainably enhance the quality of pedagogical interactions. Consequently, the integration of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence fortifies adaptive classroom management by harmonizing technology, humanistic values, and the strategic function of educators. This study offers a conceptual model of AI-driven classroom management that is humanistic, contextually relevant, and pertinent to Islamic higher education within the digital age.

Abstract

Fine motor skills are one of the important developmental aspects in early childhood that need to be stimulated through interesting learning activities appropriate to children’s characteristics. Based on observations at PAUD AL-AZIZIYAH, children’s fine motor skills still need to be improved because learning activities are still dominated by worksheet-based activities. This study aimed to describe the fine motor skills of early childhood through paper folding activities. This research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research population consisted of 15 children, and the sampling technique used was total sampling. The research data were primary data obtained through observation based on the Child Development Achievement Standards (STPPA) 2022 indicators. Data analysis used descriptive statistics with ordinal scales consisting of Not Yet Developed (BB), Beginning to Develop (MB), Developing as Expected (BSH), and Developing Very Well (BSB). The results showed that 6.7% of children were in the BB category, 46.7% in the MB category, 26.7% in the BSH category, and 20.0% in the BSB category, with an average score of 2.60. These findings indicate that paper folding activities can support the development of fine motor skills in early childhood through hand-eye coordination, accuracy, and finger flexibility during learning activities

Abstract

Environmental awareness in early childhood is often introduced at school, but daily habits at home do not always support the same values. This gap makes the role of parents important, especially in guiding children through simple household practices related to waste. This study aims to describe the problems faced by parents in cultivating environmental care character through family-based waste handling habits in early childhood. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach at Ma’arif Kindergarten, Kertajadi Village, Cidaun District, Cianjur Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving parents, teachers, and the school principal. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that parents have introduced children to cleanliness habits, such as throwing waste in the bin and keeping the house tidy. However, several problems remain, including limited parental understanding of waste sorting, inconsistent role modelling, limited facilities at home, low child involvement in waste handling, and weak continuity between school and family habits. This study concludes that environmental care character in early childhood requires consistent parental guidance, practical facilities, and stronger cooperation between school and family.

Abstract

Early reading interest in young children often decreases when literacy activities rely on teacher-centered instruction and repetitive worksheets. This study aimed to improve the pre-reading interest and skills of children aged 5–6 years through the use of the Smart Floor educational play tool. The study addresses the need for innovative, play-based literacy instruction that is developmentally appropriate and actively engages young children in early reading experiences. The study used classroom action research with two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 23 children in Group B.1 at PAUD Baitul ‘Ulum Cianjur. Data were collected through observation, interviews, checklists, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis and percentage calculation. The findings showed a gradual improvement in children’s pre-reading achievement. The average pre-reading score increased from 56% in the pre-cycle to 73% in Cycle I and reached 85% in Cycle II, exceeding the predetermined success criterion. Children became more active, focused, confident, and enthusiastic in recognizing uppercase letters, lowercase letters, letter sounds, letter forms, and simple words. The most notable improvement occurred in phonics recognition, which increased from 52% to 90%, indicating substantial progress in children's ability to associate letters with their corresponding sounds. The study concludes that Smart Floor can create an active, enjoyable, and meaningful literacy environment. This media supports children’s early literacy development through movement, symbols, sound recognition, and direct interaction. The novelty of this study lies in integrating movement-based educational play with structured pre-reading instruction through a cyclical classroom action research approach. The findings contribute to the growing body of literature on play-based literacy learning and provide practical guidance for teachers seeking child-centered strategies to support early literacy development in early childhood education settings.

Abstract

Pencil-holding ability is an important foundation for early writing readiness, yet many children still show weak finger position, unstable grip, and poor pressure control when using writing tools. This study aimed to improve pencil-holding ability as a basis for writing readiness through fine motor stimulation activities among children aged five to six years in Group B at Gelar Winaya Kindergarten, Cibeber. This study used classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle included planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were twenty-five children. Data were collected through observation checklists, documentation, teacher interviews, and field notes. The intervention used structured fine motor activities, including squeezing clay, picking up grains, drawing on banana leaves, painting on dry sand with twig brushes, using mini bamboo chopsticks, and tracing simple geometric patterns. The results showed a clear improvement in children’s pencil-holding ability. The proportion of children who reached the expected and very good development categories increased from 16 percent in the pre-cycle to 44 percent in the first cycle and 84 percent in the second cycle. The study concludes that fine motor stimulation using simple natural and local materials can effectively improve tripod grip, grip stability, pressure control, and early writing readiness.
