Abstract

The transformation of administrative processes in modern Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) has become increasingly essential in response to the rapid advancements in digital technology. This study aimed to examine the efficiency of administrative digitalization in modern pesantren located on Java Island. The study utilized a qualitative approach, using data collection methods such as in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results showed that administrative digitalization had significantly improved the operational efficiency of pesantren, particularly in areas such as data management, communication, and decision-making processes. The adoption of digital technology had streamlined administrative procedures, enhanced transparency, and increased the accuracy of data, while also reducing the administrative burden. Despite these benefits, the study identified several challenges, including limited technological infrastructure and resistance to change among administrative staff. In conclusion, this study suggested that administrative digitalization is a crucial step in supporting the modernization of pesantren and improving their overall operational efficiency. Recommendations are made for the development of more robust technological infrastructure and the provision of training for administrative staff to ensure the effective implementation of digital technology in daily operations.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using private methods in improving students' reading skills at Madrasah Diniyah TPA/TPQ "HIDAYATUSH SHIBYAN". This research uses a systematic and scientific quantitative approach to explore the relationship between the use of private methods and the ability to read iqra'. This research method is included in the exploratory category, with a survey approach carried out in the field. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The results of the research show that reading mastery is the main focus in the learning process at Madrasah Diniyah TPA/TPQ "HIDAYATUSH SHIBYAN". Even though there is only one teacher teaching in each class, all students receive equal attention and the material is taught with variety to keep students interested. The application of private methods allows more intense interaction between teachers and students, facilitating better understanding of learning material. However, the success of this method depends on the balance between the number of teachers and students and the availability of sufficient time. This research concludes that learning methods that focus on individual interactions between teachers and students, such as private methods, are effective in improving students' reading abilities and comprehension at Madrasah Diniyah TPA/TPQ "HIDAYATUSH SHIBYAN". The research results provide valuable insights for educational practitioners in improving the quality of learning in non-formal educational institutions and confirm the importance of focusing on reading mastery in the educational process.

Abstract

This research aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the character of teachers in Islam and the West through the thoughts of Imam az-Zarnuji and John Dewey. Imam az-Zarnuji was an Islamic scholar and educator who lived in the 12th century AD, while John Dewey was a Western philosopher and educator who lived in the early 20th century AD. These two figures have different views on education, but both have made significant contributions to the development of educational thought. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze Imam az-Zarnuji and John Dewey's views on teacher character in the context of Islamic and Western education. Through analysis of the texts by these two figures, we identify similarities and differences in their conceptions of the characteristics and role of a teacher. The research results show that Imam az-Zarnuji emphasized the importance of diversity in the characteristics of a teacher, including wisdom, patience and religious exemplification. Meanwhile, John Dewey emphasized the importance of direct experience and a scientific approach to teaching, as well as the role of the teacher as a facilitator of learning. From this analysis, it can be concluded that although there are differences in cultural context and thought, the concept of teacher character in Islam and the West has striking points of similarity, such as the importance of morality, wisdom, and dedication in teaching. However, practical approaches and learning methodologies may vary according to individual cultural and philosophical contexts. It is hoped that this study will provide deeper insight into the character of teachers in Islam and the West, as well as contribute to the development of cross-cultural and inter-religious education. In addition, this research also provides a foundation for a better understanding of the principles underlying educational practices in various global contexts

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has had a significant impact on the transformation of education, including increasingly complex and dynamic demands on teachers' competencies. This study aims to systematically examine various literature related to the development of teacher competencies in responding to the challenges of the digital era. A literature review method was employed, analysing relevant scholarly sources, including journal articles, academic books, policy documents, and reports from international organisations published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that teachers are required to possess digital literacy skills, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and the ability to integrate technology into student-centred learning practices. Furthermore, continuous professional development, institutional support, and a shift in mindset are key factors in strengthening teachers' capacity in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This study recommends the need for policies that support needs-based training, professional collaboration, and equitable provision of digital infrastructure. Thus, the findings of this research can serve as a foundation for policymaking and educational practices that are more responsive to the demands of the times.

Abstract

Waqf is a key tool for socioeconomic development, notably in education. Waqf substantially improves educational quality and is crucial to SDG No. 4. Waqf, including scholarships, endowment funds, educational properties, and academic support, has been established in several countries to improve education. Waqf administration and allocation vary by country due to government policies, social structures, and regional conditions. This study compares waqf implementation in education across nations using a systematic literature review (SLR). This study examines 28 relevant literary sources from 2010 to 2025 using Confidence. This research aims to evaluate waqf implementation in education and find ways to improve its effectiveness in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, notably in education quality. This comparative study explores optimal waqf management in education and makes policies to improve waqf's role in inclusive and sustainable education. The findings show that waqf collection and distribution can promote education from elementary to higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a value- and love-based learning model for enhancing students’ character in digital learning contexts. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were collected using pre- and post-tests administered with the Student Empathy and Character Values Scale (SENKS) to measure social empathy, social responsibility, and self-reflection. Meanwhile, qualitative data were obtained through participant observation, interviews, and learning documentation to explore the process of value internalization. The study was conducted over 12 weeks in three Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, involving 90 students in grades V–VI, six teachers, and three principals as key informants. Quantitative data were analyzed using a paired-samples t-test, and qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis; the results were integrated to provide a comprehensive understanding. The findings indicate that implementing the value- and love-based learning model significantly improves students’ character holistically. The average character score increased from 68.5 in the pre-test to 83.9 in the post-test (Δ = 15.4; p < 0.001), with the highest improvements observed in social empathy (26.4%), social responsibility (22.6%), and self-reflection (25.4%). Qualitative findings revealed improvements in collaboration (+77.8%), care for peers (+100%), and discipline (+70%), as well as the creation of a supportive classroom climate. The mechanisms of character transformation include emotional awareness, strengthening social relationships through collaboration, and internalizing values through reflection and teacher feedback.
