Abstract

Nyaru Menteng Urban Forest is ±100 hectares of Others Use Area (APL) and information on its biodiversity is limited. This study aims to assess biodiversity and forest conditions. Flora data were collected using the quadrat transect method and fauna data using a combination of Visual Encounter Survey and Point Count methods. The species composition of the flora is no less than 20 species, dominated by the Dipterocarpaceae family with density of seedling 6,170 individuals/ha, saplings 1,472 individuals/ha, poles 330 individuals/ha, and trees 224 individuals/ha indicating sufficient natural regeneration and forming an inverted J curve. The highest IVIs were Combretocarpus rotundatus, Shorea balangeran, Cratoxylon glaucum, Campnosperma coriaceum, and Palaquium leiocarpum. Flora biodiversity shows high species diversity, high species richness, low species dominance, and almost even species distribution. Fauna species composition is 45 species with 6 species of mammals, 25 species of avifauna, 7 species of herpetofauna, and 7 species of insects. Faunal biodiversity showed moderate species diversity, low species dominance, low species richness (except avifauna), and moderate species evenness. It can be concluded that Nyaru Menteng Urban Forest is very worthy of being maintained as an exotic and unique peat swamp forest, because it has high biodiversity with abundant natural regeneration, good individual species evenness, stability and balance of the forest ecosystem

Abstract

This research aims to determine the diversity of species and population density of birds in the Lapak Jaru Forest Park (Tahura) Area. The method used is the Rapid Assessment method and a combination method between the Point Count method and Line Transect. Data analysis uses the Species Richness Index, Species Diversity Index, Evenness Index and Population Density. The research results showed that the number of bird species at the research location is 28 bird species with a total number of 238 individuals. The Species Richness Index obtained is 4,93, the Species Diversity Index is 2,96, and the Evenness Index is 0,89. The bird population density at the research location is 2,701.11 individuals/km2, and the five types of birds with the highest density are Cinenen Belukar (306,68 individuals/km2), Pentis Kalimantan (271,29 individuals/km2), Cucak Kelabu (235,9 individuals/km2), Asi Topi-Sisik (235,9 individuals/km2) and Jingjing Batu (176,93 individuals/km2)

Abstract

The Ecological Sensitivity Level of Tahura Area of Palangka Raya City is dominated by Very Sensitive (76.81%) which indicates that this part of the area has high biodiversity potential with its unique biogeophysical ecosystem, so serious efforts and attention are needed to protect and preserve it. Land use intervention in the Tahura area is dominated (57.98%), indicating the high intervention of human activities in the form of land use in this part of the area. The gap level of Tahura Area is dominated by Very Sensitive, Land Use Intervention (39.87%). This indicates that this part of the Tahura Area has a very high ecological sensitivity and is vulnerable to intensive human activity intervention, resulting in a very high risk of damage to its natural ecosystem. While the level of gap in the Very Sensitive, No Land Use Intervention area (36.94%) indicates that this part of the Tahura Area has very high ecological sensitivity and relatively minimal human intervention, and is at low risk of damage to its natural ecosystem. Based on this, the ecological sensitivity and gap of the Palangka Raya City Forest Park (Tahura) area indicates the vulnerability of the area to high intervention of human activities and the risk of damage to natural ecosystems, as well as the loss of biodiversity if no immediate mitigation and rehabilitation measures are taken, as well as proper planning and governance of the area

Abstract

Moringa plants (Moringa oleifera L) are multipurpose plants that have many benefits in all parts of the plant, both leaves, stems, seeds, and roots. Apart from being one of the sources of healthy food, beneficial for health, moringa plants can also be used as an alternative energy source for fuel. This study aims to find out the right planting medium for the growth of moringa plant seedlings. This research was carried out in a residential nursery in Bukit Tunggal, Jekan Raya District, Palangka Raya City from January to March 2025. The processing and analysis of data in this study is assisted by MS Excel software and Minitab version 21.1.1. During the research process, observations were made for height increase (cm) and diameter increase (mm), carried out every 2 weeks for 3 months of research. The cumulative number or total samples of this study is 54 Moringa seedlings consisting of 6 planting media treatments, where each of these treatments has 9 Moringa seedling samples. The results showed that the percentage of Moringa seedlings growing during the observation time period and at the end of observation based on the treatment of the planting medium in order, namely PS of 67%, TP 56%, TS and TG equal to 44%, GP 22%, and GB 11%. The response to diameter growth on day 96 (DH-96) was in the interval of 0.15 – 0.3 cm with an average of 0.22 cm. The high growth response on day 96 (TH-96) was in the interval of 13 – 44 cm with an average of 28.88 cm.
