Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the need for science and technology learning media on human five senses material in elementary schools. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out in five elementary schools in the Cikembar District cluster, Sukabumi Regency. Research subjects included 5 class III teachers and 139 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and distributing needs analysis questionnaires prepared using a Likert scale. The results of the research show that teachers have a very positive view of the use of learning media because it is able to increase students' interest in learning, activeness and understanding of concepts and helps convey learning objectives more clearly. However, the availability of science and technology learning media in schools is still limited and not completely attractive. Meanwhile, the results of the analysis of student needs show that students have a high interest in learning supported by visual and interactive media, such as pictures, videos and animations, because it makes it easier to understand concrete material. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the development of concrete, visual and interactive science learning media is very necessary to support the learning characteristics of elementary school students and improve the quality of the scienceas learning process and outcomes.

Abstract

The integration of science and social studies into science in the Independent Curriculum aims to develop 21st-century skills. This study analyzes the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model predominantly used by teachers, with a focus on the impacts and constraints in five elementary schools in Karangtengah District. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was collected from 39 informants (9 teachers, 30 students) through observation, interviews, and documentation with data triangulation validation. The results revealed that the main constraints included material preparation, classroom management, limited facilities, and time effectiveness. Although 74% of students still struggled with focus, the implementation of PBL proved to have a significant positive impact. There was an increase in conceptual understanding, learning outcomes, critical thinking, and student motivation of up to 100%. Students became more active, independent, and bold in expressing their opinions in solving real-world problems. In conclusion, despite facing technical challenges, the PBL model is effective in shaping student character. To optimize its implementation, ongoing teacher training and adaptive classroom management strategies are needed to overcome obstacles in the field.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of interactive Smart TVs in supporting learning in elementary schools. The study was motivated by the availability of interactive Smart TVs in schools, whose use in learning has not yet been optimized. The method used was descriptive qualitative research conducted at SDN Cibunar 3 in Sukabumi Regency, with teachers serving as the primary informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model. The results indicate that interactive Smart TVs are used to present various digital learning resources, making learning more engaging, interactive, and easier for students to understand. The use of this medium also increased students’ attention and engagement, although the use of its interactive features was not yet optimal due to teachers’ limited technological proficiency. Thus, interactive Smart TVs support the creation of more effective, interactive, and meaningful learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using a hand replica model on the understanding of the musculoskeletal system among sixth-grade elementary school students, addressing the issue of low comprehension resulting from instruction that remained abstract and lacked concrete learning aids. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, utilizing pre-tests and post-tests for both experimental and control groups. The results demonstrated an improvement in student understanding within the experimental group, evidenced by an increase in the mean score from 42.69 to 77.31 and a hypothesis test significance value of 0.03 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of using the hand replica model. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 0.6175 (61.75%) fell into the moderate category, signifying reasonable effectiveness. Consequently, the use of the hand replica model proved effective in enhancing student understanding and fostering a learning environment that is interactive, meaningful, and student-centered.
