Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of physical and chemical water quality in the waters of Lake Sentani, Waibu District, Jayapura Regency. The method used in this study is a normative survey method, which is a method used to observe certain objects or conditions, which are nothing but intended to make systematic descriptions, pictures or drawings, of data or facts and characteristics in relation to the information provided. obtained by setting in a certain standard or norm. Data collected, processed and presented descriptively. The results showed that physical water quality parameters, water temperature ranged from 28.4 – 30.2 to 30.3 oC, turbidity 4.10 – 4.20 to 4.90 NTU, TDS ranged from 119.0 – 129.0 up to 132.0 mg/l and TSS ranged from 82.0 – 82.0- to 96.0 mg/L and non-metallic inorganic chemical water quality parameters, the degree of acidity (pH) ranged from 7.53 – 7.55 to 7.81mg/l, dissolved oxygen (DO) ranged from 6.02 – 6.10 to 6.50 mg/L, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) ranged from 1.72 – 2.64 to 2.90 mg/L , nitrite (NO2-N) ranged from 0.004 – 0.004 to 0.004 mg/L and phosphate (PO4-P) ranged from 0.53 – 0.97 to 1.02 mg/L. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the physical quality and the water chemistry of Sentani Lake waters at the study site is still in the optimal range or suitable for aquaculture activities in Sentani Lake waters.

Abstract

Masculinization is an attempt to increase the number of male fish or direct fish to become male. This is because reproduction energy is diverted to somatic growth. Monosex production of males using the hormone metyltestosterone is reported to be most effective using the larval immersion method during the sex differentation or critical period, in which the larval brain is still a biopotential state directing the formation of sexes in morphology, behaviour and function. Immersion is one of the methods used for male sex change apart from oral (feeding) and injection. Soaking the tilapia larval stage at the age of 10 and 14 days with 1,800 ug/LMT for 4 and 8 hours produced 91,6% and 98,3% of males. The study aimed to determine how long soaking of the larvae in the hormone methyltestosterone on the good masculinization of tilapia (Oreocrhomis niloticus) and what percentage of masculinization is in the larvae of tilapia (Oreocrhomis niloticus) using the hormone methyltestosterone through immersion. The result of ANOVA calculation show that the difference in the duration of immersion with the hormone methyltestosterone sygnificantly affect the percentage of the number of male fish produced.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of tofu dregs flour levels on broiler finisher periods. Furthermore, it can be used as information about the use of tofu dregs flour as an efficient broiler finisher feed ingredient, however the resulting production remains good. This research was an experimental study using a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment given was replacing the proportion of basal ration with tofu dregs flour, namely: R0 = 0% tofu dregs flour + 100% basal feed, R1 = 5% tofu pulp flour + 95% feed basal, R2 = 10% tofu dregs flour + 90% basal feed, R3 = 15% tofu dregs flour + 85% basal feed. The parameters observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion. The use of tofu dregs flour at a percentage of 10% (R2) in the finisher period broiler ration resulted in the highest feed consumption, weight gain and the lowest value for feed conversion when compared with basal feed.
