Abstract

This article aims to describe the implementation of democracy education as a strategy for instilling the values of national defense while simultaneously shaping the identity of young generations. The background of this study lies in the importance of fostering youth awareness of national values, which not only encompass formal aspects of citizenship but also critical consciousness of their role within a democratic society. The method employed was the organization of an educational seminar for high school students in West Jakarta as a form of Community Service (PKM) activity. The seminar content focused on the interconnection between democracy, national defense, and youth identity, using an interactive approach to encourage active participation from the participants. The results indicated that students demonstrated strong interest in issues related to democracy and national defense and were able to relate them to their identity as the nation’s future generation. Post-seminar evaluations revealed an increase in participants’ understanding of democracy as a foundation for strengthening national defense, as well as the emergence of critical reflections on their role in safeguarding unity, diversity, and national identity. Therefore, democracy education through seminars can be considered an effective strategy for instilling the spirit of national defense and strengthening the identity formation of young generations.

Abstract

Romantic relationships during emerging adulthood often present emotional challenges due to individual character differences. One psychological factor that can reduce relationship satisfaction is rejection sensitivity, which may trigger negative reactions and lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy. This study aims to examine the influence of rejection sensitivity on relationship satisfaction among young adults in Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative correlational-predictive approach, involving 213 active university students aged 18–20 who are currently or have previously been in romantic relationships. The instruments used were the Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire (RSQ) and the Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS), and data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between rejection sensitivity and relationship satisfaction (r = -0.281, p < 0.01), with a contribution of R² = 7.9%. The higher an individual’s rejection sensitivity, the lower their perceived relationship satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of emotional regulation and managing rejection-related anxiety in maintaining the quality of romantic relationships during early adulthood. This study contributes to the literature on interpersonal relationship psychology in Indonesia and may serve as a foundation for preventive interventions in counseling for young couples.
