Abstract

The present research investigates whether the implementation of role-playing can enhance learners’ enthusiasm for Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MI Al-Huda. The study was motivated by observed declines in student interest and engagement attributed to traditionally teacher-centered instructional practices. Adopting a qualitative descriptive framework, the researcher obtained information through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentary evidence. To ensure the credibility of findings, the study employed triangulation across data sources, collection techniques, and temporal periods. The findings indicate that applying the role-playing method effectively increased students’ enthusiasm for learning. Learners became more active, confident, and motivated to participate in SKI activities. The method also fostered positive social interaction, cooperation, and a sense of responsibility among students. Its main advantage is the creation of an engaging, contextual, and enjoyable learning atmosphere, while its limitation lies in the extended time required and limited school facilities. Overall, the role-playing method proved effective as an alternative strategy for promoting interactive and meaningful SKI learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how religious moderation values are internalized in Islamic Education (PAI) learning at SMAN 2 Sleman. Strengthening religious moderation is considered crucial to respond to the moral and social challenges experienced by Generation Alpha in today’s digital era. Core values such as tolerance, fairness, and balance need to be cultivated early to build students’ openness and appreciation for diversity. This research applied a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The results show that the internalization process occurs through teachers’ exemplary behavior, routine practices, and reflective-dialogue-based learning. The process is supported by an inclusive and cooperative school climate, while challenges arise from digital media influences and peer rivalry. Overall, religious moderation in PAI learning contributes significantly to shaping students’ moderate and respectful character in the school environment.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of science and technology in the twenty-first century has reshaped human conceptions of knowledge and reality, contributing to a global crisis of meaning rooted in secular and positivistic epistemologies that separate truth from moral and spiritual values. Within Islamic education, this tension appears in the dichotomy between religious and worldly sciences, creating fragmentation and imbalance. This study examines the integration of three classical Islamic epistemologies: bayani which is textual and normative, burhani which is rational and empirical, and irfani which is intuitive and spiritual as a conceptual basis for reconstructing the philosophy of Islamic education. Using a qualitative approach through literature analysis of primary and secondary sources from scholars such as al Ghazali and Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas, the findings show that integrating these epistemologies produces a holistic framework that harmonizes revelation, reason, and spiritual intuition. This model offers an alternative to secular education by promoting intellectual, moral, and spiritual balance and fostering ethically responsible individuals.
