Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of test techniques as an assessment instrument for the cognitive domain in learning at SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta. The background of this research is the importance of assessments that are able to measure the ability to think at a higher level according to the demands of 21st century education. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that teachers used a combination of objective tests (such as multiple choice) and essay tests to assess students' abilities from low to high cognitive levels based on the revised Bloom Taxonomy. Tests are used not only to assess learning outcomes, but also to provide feedback and improve the learning process. The main challenges faced by teachers include difficulties in compiling HOTS questions, time constraints, and high workloads. To overcome this, schools apply strategies such as question preparation training, collaboration between teachers, and the use of digital technology in the evaluation process. This study concludes that the application of planned test techniques and in accordance with the principles of authentic assessment can increase the effectiveness of cognitive assessment, learning quality, and students' critical thinking skills in the modern education era.

Abstract

Understanding of the subjects of Islamic religious education, especially the history of Islamic culture (HIC) and moral belief, plays an important role in the formation of students' morals in the school environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of students' understanding of the subjects of HIC and moral beliefs on their morals in SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta. The approach used is quantitative with correlational methods to test the relationship between variables using multiple linear regression analysis. The Data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires and tests to Class XI students as research subjects, focusing on the level of understanding of the two subjects and their implications for everyday morals. The results of the analysis showed a positive and significant influence between the understanding of HIC and moral beliefs on student behavior, either partially or simultaneously, this is evidenced by the value of F count of 44.038, which is greater than F table (4.01). The higher the level of students' understanding of HIC materials and moral beliefs, the better the morals reflected in their lives, both in the school environment and outside the school. This finding shows the importance of strengthening HIC learning and moral belief in an integrated manner in improving the moral quality and character of students in Islamic-based secondary schools.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at MI Al Huda Karangnongko Yogyakarta has tended to be monotonous, as it is predominantly conducted through lecture, question-and-answer, and memorization methods, which has resulted in low student learning interest. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the Total Physical Response (TPR) method on improving Arabic vocabulary mastery among fourth-grade students of class IV B at MI Al Huda. The research employed an experimental approach using a true experimental design, specifically the pretest–posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes selected from the entire student population of MI Al Huda, with class IV B serving as the experimental group that received instruction using the TPR method, and class IV A serving as the control group that was taught using conventional instructional methods. Data analysis was conducted using a parametric statistical test in the form of an Independent Samples t-Test, assisted by SPSS version 25. The results of the analysis revealed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is lower than the significance level of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method has a significant effect on the Arabic vocabulary mastery of fourth-grade students in class IV B at MI Al Huda Karangnongko Yogyakarta.
