Abstract

Communication is the most important means of conveying goals; poor communication can lead to the failure of expected goals. This can also occur during the learning process at school. This study aims to enhance students' critical thinking skills and develop their honest character by utilising digital communication media. This research approach utilises R&D combined with the ADDIE model to produce a means of communication between teachers and students in the form of Google Sites learning media integrated with Canva. Experts then validated the resulting learning media to ensure strong results for use in learning. Experts also validated the critical thinking test instrument and the honest character observation sheet to ensure that strong, reliable instruments would be used. The sample of this study consisted of class VII D students of MTsN 2 Jember in the 2024/2025 academic year, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique employed N-Gain and was followed by an independent sample t-test, which was subsequently evaluated using Cohen's d test. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills increased to a high category (Cohen's d = -4.501). There was also an increase in students' character scores, which were in the high category (Cohen's d = -5.386). These results suggest that effective communication media can enhance students' critical thinking skills and character. Teacher communication with students using digital media can overcome students' learning difficulties, increase their interest and motivation to learn, and improve their critical thinking skills. Rules regarding assignments and how to monitor them in learning through the Google Sites application train students' character of honesty. Students also responded enthusiastically to the presence of this media. The fatigue they previously experienced in conventional learning was alleviated by delivering more engaging lessons with fresh themes and animations on the Canva display, integrated with Google Sites.

Abstract

This research aims to create a pop-up picture book based on multicultural education for early childhood. Through this picture book, children can understand multicultural education and get used to the diversity around them. In addition, this picture book teaches children how to behave around friends who have different customs and cultures from themselves. This development study refers to the 4-D development design steps. It includes (a) definition, (b) design, (c) development, and (d) dissemination. Before conducting product trials, validation tests were carried out on three experts. Data were collected by conducting observations which were carried out twice, namely before giving the book and after giving the book. Data analysis was carried out through the gain score of pre-test and post-test scores. The product trial was carried out in two stages, namely a limited test with 12 children and the main test with 31 children of PGRI Silo 01 Kindergarten. The results of the product feasibility assessment of product verification were 3.8 (very feasible) for media experts and 4 (very feasible) for material experts. The effectiveness of illustrated pop-up books in instilling an understanding of multicultural education in early childhood is determined based on the results of the pre-test score of 5.13 and the post-test score of 5.95. From this comparison, it can be concluded that the use of pop-up picture books based on multicultural education is effective in increasing children's understanding of multicultural education.

Abstract

The participation of SMK students is driven by employment goals and in response to market constraints and personal challenges, hence the need for flexibility in vocational training. The purpose of preparing the research is the development of interactive e-books, product feasibility, and the effectiveness of using Interactive E-books in class X DPIB at SMKN 2 Jember. This research is a Research and Development (R&D), in the form of an ADDIE model approach, which consists of five levels, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the validation assessment show the percentage of the feasibility of the media component of 94.67% and the material component of 95.56%, can be categorized as “Very Valid”. The results of product feasibility tested on students, have a feasibility percentage of 99.01%, indicating that the Interactive E-book is “Very Feasible”. The results of the analysis test on the pretest and post-test scores showed an average increase of 36.16 with an N-Gain of 86.71 in the high category. These results show that X DPIB SMK students are better when applying media in the form of Project Based Learning-STEM interactive e-books and can improve creative thinking and collaboration skills.
