Abstract

This study provides exploratory insight into how Generation Z users search for travel information on TikTok, interpreted through the lens of the Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT). Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with five female respondents aged 20–29 from major Indonesian cities. Thematic analysis with NVivo 15 identified four interconnected gratification dimensions: affective gratification, social gratification, cognitive-credibility gratification, and cognitive-efficiency gratification. These findings reveal that TikTok functions not merely as an entertainment platform but as an algorithmically mediated information ecosystem that blends emotion, trust, and efficiency in digital discovery. From a theoretical perspective, the study contributes to the contextual application of UGT by introducing the exploratory concept of Algorithmically Mediated Gratification (AMG). Practically, the findings offer actionable insights for business owners and tourism marketers by designing authentic, visually compelling, and interactive short-form content, collaborating with credible micro-influencers, and maintaining consistency across digital platforms to enhance user trust and engagement.

Abstract

The fast-changing business landscape poses challenges for Human Resource (HR) teams in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in terms of risk and performance and maintaining stability in uncertain times. Continuity and team performance depend on effective risk management. Managing risks in the literature has involved HR teams with performance and operational continuity in the business with little or no citations on the HR leadership style, which has been the primary focus of this study. This gap in understanding limits the extent to which businesses can help HR teams improve their operational performance. This study attempts to fill this gap by measuring the effect of risk management on the effectiveness of HR teams and how leadership affects this relationship. For this purpose, a quantitative survey research based on PLS-SEM was conducted on 200 HR employees and Balinese frontline operational workers in SMEs in teams oriented toward the collection of PLS-SEM data in specified domains of operational risk management. The data was collected by means of a survey employing standardized questionnaires and analyzed through focused area PLS-SEM and customized bootstrapping techniques for testing moderation through interaction terms. The results showed that the effectiveness of HR teams can be significantly enhanced through the adoption of appropriate risk management strategies. Furthermore, leadership styles that are more active in a hierarchy not only directly increase team performance but also strengthen the impact of risk management. This integration of perspectives demonstrates the practical applicability of the Resource-Based View alongside Contingency Theory: the context of leadership and organizational resources shapes team output. Looking ahead, the extension of this research could focus on longitudinal designs, additional organizational culture, and employee motivation variables for moderation or mediation, and research on a context larger than SMEs to test the breadth of this conclusion.

Abstract

While digital adoption is essential for operational efficiency in the culinary sector, many local restaurants still struggle with the inefficiencies of manual ordering and paper menus, which require longer service times and complicate menu updates. Currently, there is a gap in applying structured, user-focused methodologies to effectively bridge these traditional practices with modern digital solutions. To address this gap, this research aims to design a highly usable UI/UX for a web-based QR Code food ordering system tailored specifically for Limestones Restaurant Bali. The study utilizes the User-Centered Design (UCD) method to ensure the system strictly aligns with user needs, progressing through four stages: specifying the context of use, specifying user and organizational requirements, producing design solutions, and evaluating the design against user requirements. The resulting prototype features an interactive digital menu, shopping cart, and two payment options including QRIS and cash. Design evaluation was conducted through user testing with ten respondents using the System Usability Scale (SUS), achieving a score of 71.25. This score places the system in the "Good" category, demonstrating that its usability exceeds standard acceptability thresholds. Ultimately, the main scientific contribution of this study is a UCD-driven design framework and a validated prototype that systematically resolves the physical limitations of manual menus while significantly enhancing the modern customer ordering experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the Safeguard Import Duty or Bea Masuk Tindakan Pengamanan (BMTP) in controlling textile import volumes in Indonesia. It is also examining the influence of macroeconomic variables, exchange rates and inflation. This study is motivated by the increasing pressure from imports on the domestic textile industry and the need to evaluate trade defence policies in the context of developing countries. In this regard, the analysis integrates trade defence policies with exchange rate and inflation dynamics in order to better illustrate how macroeconomic conditions influence the outcomes of trade policies. A quantitative approach is employed using panel data regression, combining cross-sectional data from 14 countries and times series data from January 2019 to December 2025. The data are analyzed using a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) with robust standard errors to ensure reliable estimation. The results show that the countries subjected to safeguard policy (BMTP) is associated with lower import volumes, even though the effect is not statistically significant. Meanwhile, exchange rates and inflation have a positive and significant impact on import volume, indicating that macroeconomic conditions play a crucial role in shaping import dynamics. Simultaneously, all variables significantly affect import volume, highlighting the interaction between safeguard policy and macroeconomic factors. These results indicate that the effectiveness of trade policy cannot be separated from macroeconomic context. These findings contribute to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the limited effectiveness of trade protection policies when not supported by stable macroeconomic stability and industrial development. Practically, the study suggests that policymakers should complement protectionist measures with macroeconomic strategies and industrial capacity building.
