Abstract

Students’ confusion in selecting a study concentration presents a significant challenge in early career planning. The Management Study Program (S1) at Cenderawasih University faces an imbalance in student interest across concentrations, indicating a limited understanding of individual interests, personality traits, and career prospects. To address this issue, a community service initiative in the form of a career interest mapping workshop was conducted. This training equipped students with interest assessments, personality tests, and skill evaluations. A total of 59 second-semester students participated, facilitated by faculty members from each concentration and HR practitioners. The evaluation results revealed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of the interrelation between personal interests, personality types, and study concentration choices. The training proved effective in enhancing students’ self-awareness and supporting more informed academic decisions aligned with their potential and personal career goals.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of financial capability – comprising financial awareness, experience, skills, and knowledge – on financial decision-making among youth in Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia, while exploring the moderating role of family decision-making dynamics. A total of 229 respondents aged 17 to 25 completed a structured questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that financial awareness significantly enhances financial knowledge, which in turn is a strong predictor of sound financial decision-making. Financial experience contributes substantially to the development of financial skill; however, financial skills alone do not exert a direct influence on decision-making behavior. Notably, family decision-making significantly moderates the relationship between financial knowledge and financial decision-making, underscoring the importance of sociocultural context in shaping youth financial behavior. These findings highlight the necessity of comprehensive financial education programs that integrate both individual financial competencies and familial influences. This study contributes to the financial capability literature by emphasizing the role of family as a contextual factor in financial decision-making processes among young adults.

Abstract

Public speaking is an essential competency for university students as it supports both academic achievement and future professional development. However, some students supported by Yayasan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Amungme dan Kamoro (YPMAK) still experience difficulties in expressing their ideas confidently in front of an audience. The activity applied a participatory training approach that combined lectures, practical speaking exercises, and evaluation following each practice session. The training was conducted in December 2025 at the Management Laboratory of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Cenderawasih, involving YPMAK-assisted students as participants. The effectiveness of the program was assessed through pre-tests, post-tests, and direct observation of participants’ performance during speaking practice sessions. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of fundamental public speaking techniques as well as a noticeable increase in their confidence when presenting ideas in front of an audience. Overall, the program contributes to strengthening the communication competencies of the participating students.
