The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that effective extracurricular management is supported by strong leadership, adequate facilities, and active participation of all stakeholders. Main challenges include resource limitations, time management issues among students, and less optimal parental support. Findings demonstrate that the success of fostering student potential relies heavily on systematic management and a conducive environment. Therefore, extracurricular management requires continuous evaluation and strong collaboration to optimize activities in character building, interests, and talents comprehensively. This research provides valuable contributions as an evaluation basis and development of extracurricular management models in schools.

Abstract

The transformation of teacher leadership in the social media era has reconfigured the pedagogical and ethical authority of educators, but studies on these dynamics in Islamic elementary education are still limited. This study aims to analyze the transformation of teacher leadership, the role of digital agency and professional identity, and their contribution to character education in the social media ecosystem in Islamic elementary education. This study employs a library research method with a conceptual and content analysis approach. Data were collected from various primary and secondary sources, including peer-reviewed journals, academic books, and relevant educational reports, focusing on the intersection of digital agency, professional identity, and character education. The data were analyzed through thematic coding and conceptual synthesis to construct a new theoretical framework. The results of the study show: (1) teacher leadership transforms from classroom-based practices to networked and digitally mediated leadership, which operates beyond institutional boundaries through the social media ecosystem; (2) digital agency and professional identity form a reciprocal mechanism that gives birth to a new construct in the form of Digital Islamic Teacher Identity—a hybrid identity that integrates digital competence with the values of murabbi and uswah hasanah; (3) Social media-mediated leadership contributes substantively to character education through digital role models as a hidden curriculum and Islamic-themed content curation, which strengthens students' moral resilience and digital citizenship. This study proposes an integrative conceptual model that offers a paradigm shift from technology adoption to value-framed technology integration in educational leadership. Policy and practical implications for the development of teachers' digital leadership are also discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze variations in students' smoking behavior in three Pesantren with different regulatory systems: the permissive model at Ma'had Aly Walindo, moderate regulations at PDF Walindo, and strict sharia-based prohibitions at Pesantren Ribatul Muta'allimin. The study employed a qualitative case study design, collecting data through participant observation, in-depth interviews with caretakers, administrators, and students, and analyzing pesantren disciplinary documents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that students' smoking behavior is not merely an individual choice, but a social practice formed through the construction of institutional values, peer conformity, and the strength of disciplinary mechanisms. At Ma'had Aly Walindo, permissive regulations foster open smoking behavior that is legitimized as a social culture; at PDF Walindo, smoking behavior is adaptive and negotiated according to the intensity of supervision; while at Pesantren Ribatul Muta'allimin, strict sharia-based discipline results in latent smoking behavior that is hidden and accompanied by moral-spiritual pressure. These patterns suggest that the degree of strictness or laxity of regulations significantly determines how smoking behavior is displayed in both public and private spaces. This research contributes to the sociology of Pesantren by offering an analytical model that integrates social learning theory, conformity theory, and institutional disciplinary mechanisms to understand how authority structures and moral orders shape the behavioral practices of Pesantren students. Furthermore, this research provides strategic insights for developing behavioral interventions that are realistic, contextual, and sensitive to the cultural, social, and religious dynamics within Pesantren.
