Abstract

This study aims to develop a business model for the shallot farming sector in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, which is carried out by utilizing production data for the last 10 years. Shallot growth in NTB was studied using a quantitative approach, identifying four different growth patterns between regions. The research results show that shallot production in NTB has experienced significant growth, but there are disparities between areas. To increase production and distribution efficiency, shallot crop development strategies need to pay attention to annual production data, product innovation, resource processing, and eco-tourism. Improvements in governance and trading systems are also needed to achieve better price stability. Therefore, it is necessary to meet the needs of technology, and agricultural infrastructure and increase the capacity of farmers to increase overall productivity. This study concludes that business development in the shallot farming sector in NTB requires a comprehensive approach through various strategies to achieve sustainable and equitable growth throughout the region. The development of the shallot business in NTB should ideally include increasing added value, product diversification, marketing optimization, implementing appropriate business models, innovation, market expansion, and establishing farmer partnership patterns. Technological innovation, evidence-based policies, and strengthening value chains were highlighted as important steps in increasing shallot production sustainably in NTB.

Abstract

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has natural beauty, superior human resources, and abundant cultural riches, making it a tourist attraction. The progress of the tourism industry has stimulated the growth of various types of businesses and various business sectors in different economic sectors. Visits from foreign tourists are the starting point for starting a business. This potential must be identified and mapped to be able to open new business spaces and provide excellent, ultimate, optimal, and sustainable quality tourism services. Through this study, tourism stakeholders can formulate tourism business development strategies. This study seeks to map the visiting patterns of foreign tourists visiting NTB. The approach used is quantitative with a focus on measuring the rate of foreign tourist visits per month from 2015-2022. The Central Statistics Agency and the NTB Provincial Tourism Office obtained secondary data on foreign tourist visits. The results of the analysis prove that there are fluctuations in foreign tourist visits to NTB. Since 2015-2019, it has shown a quite significant trend of increasing visits. However, in 2020-2022 there was a drastic decline due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was also found that there was a seasonal visiting pattern in the peak months, namely: July, August, November and December. Ideally, this pattern should be scrutinized so that strategies can be immediately developed to promote the unique tourism resources that have made NTB a major attraction for foreign tourists. In the end, the essence of data on foreign tourist visits has inspired the Government, Regional Government, and tourism stakeholders to innovate, prepare marketing strategies, promote them digitally, and diversify tourism products. During the quiet months, visitors can be used to improve infrastructure, public facilities, and services in tourism destinations that prioritize environmental sustainability, and economic, social, and cultural resilience.

Abstract

Lombok Island has great potential in developing the poultry farming sector, but an integrated approach is needed to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth. This study aims to analyze the growth pattern of the poultry population on Lombok Island and identify optimization strategies that can improve community welfare. The method used is a quantitative approach with longitudinal data from 2015 to 2022, covering types of poultry such as free-range chickens, laying hens, broilers, Manila ducks, and quail. Data was taken from the "NTB Satu Data" page and analyzed using Descriptive Statistical Analysis (ASD), Trend Analysis, and Comparative Analysis. The study results showed fluctuations in the poultry population with a compound annual growth rate of 15.55%. Despite significant growth, several types of poultry in certain areas are experiencing population decline, such as quail. The discussion underscored the importance of applying modern technology, circular economy principles, and climate change adaptation strategies to optimize the benefits of the poultry industry. This study also emphasizes the importance of evidence-based policies and competitive strategies to develop sustainable poultry agribusiness, improve farmer welfare, and support local economic growth. In conclusion, the development of poultry agribusiness on Lombok Island has bright prospects if supported by an inclusive and sustainable optimization strategy, paying attention to the balance between economic, social, and environmental aspects.

Abstract

Lombok's signature water spinach has become legendary and world-famous. As a horticultural commodity with great potential for development, it is certainly interesting to manage as a business activity. Water spinach as a culinary has succeeded in building interactions, traditions, and literacy that relax and educate those who enjoy its taste. The problem is that the harvested area and production of water spinach show dynamic fluctuations and tend to decline, so it has a significant impact on business development. This study aims to explore the dynamics of the harvested area (Ha.) and the increase in production (Ku) of Lombok's signature water spinach. The approach used is qualitative-exploratory with descriptive statistical analysis. Secondary data includes the harvested area and production of water spinach measured in the period 2014-2022 so that the trends that occur can be identified. In the last eight years, there has been an increase in the harvested area and production of Lombok's signature water spinach cumulatively for the Province of NTB. However, there is also evidence of fluctuations in the harvested area and production which tend to decrease even by 100 percent, in Bima City. At least, there are still six (6) regions that tend to increase the harvested area's growth rate and production of water spinach. The water spinach business management requires policy support that could motivate farmers' interest in planting water spinach with superior seeds and obtain certainty of a prosperous future. Therefore, efforts to develop Farmer HR and involve stakeholders in the management, use, administration, procedures, and trade of water spinach, protection of geographical indications, post-harvest management, branding, and marketing accompanied by forming and expanding partnership networks are necessary. The Government (Central) and Regional Governments are expected to synergize and collaborate for water spinach development. Lombok's typical water spinach has opened up opportunities and provided several challenges to optimize it for the benefit of humanity through innovations that improve prosperity.
