Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of work-life balance in mediating the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment among working students. The research sample consists of 103 respondents selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the hypotheses and mediation effects. The results indicate that job satisfaction positively influences work-life balance and organizational commitment. Furthermore, work-life balance also has a significant positive effect on organizational commitment. Mediation analysis shows that work-life balance fully mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment. These findings highlight the importance of work-life balance in enhancing organizational commitment among working students, suggesting that organizations should prioritize policies and programs that support work-life balance to foster a more committed workforce. This study contributes theoretically by enriching the literature on work-life balance, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, particularly within the unique context of working students. Practically, it offers valuable insights for human resource management in developing effective strategies to improve employee well-being and organizational loyalty.

Abstract

Lecturer performance management is vital for improving the quality of higher education, particularly in Islamic universities. This study aims to analyze how performance management enhances lecturer quality, focusing on evaluation practices and professional development aligned with teaching, research, and community service. A qualitative approach was used, employing library research and content analysis to examine books, journal articles, and regulations from 2018 to 2024. The analysis included institutional documents, such as evaluation guidelines, to provide context-specific insights. The findings show that periodic evaluations provide constructive feedback, boost motivation, and identify strengths and weaknesses, encouraging continuous improvement through training, collaborative research, and teaching innovation. The integration of Islamic values, such as ethical conduct and religious outreach, enriches the evaluation process, aligning with the institution’s mission. Performance management contributes to better teaching quality, increased research output, and stronger community engagement, enhancing institutional competitiveness. However, reliance on literature limits empirical insights. This study concludes that systematic performance management, incorporating academic and Islamic principles, is a key strategy for developing lecturer professionalism and strengthening the identity of Islamic universities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of job satisfaction as a mediator in the relationship between the organizational environment—specifically transformational leadership and organizational commitment—and employees' innovative behaviors. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) approach, this study analyzed 20 scientific articles published in the 2015–2024 range. The article selection process follows the PRISMA protocol, starting from the initial identification of 112 articles through the Scopus database, which is then filtered and supplemented with articles from other relevant sources until a total of 20 studies are obtained that are worth analysis. The results of the study show that transformational leadership consistently has a positive effect on innovative behavior and that this influence is significantly mediated by job satisfaction. Organizational commitment was also found to strengthen job satisfaction and indirectly contribute to innovation. However, few studies have placed these two psychological variables—job satisfaction and organizational commitment—in one unified mediation model. This study concludes that job satisfaction is an important strategic link in translating organizational structural influences into innovative behaviors. These findings contribute to the organizational innovation literature by highlighting the importance of the psychological dimension in the process of emerging innovation in the workplace, as well as opening up opportunities for further research in the context of strategic organizations in Indonesia.
