Abstract

Kendari City as a center for industrial, trade, and service activities as well as a provider of urban facilities has become an attraction for residents to move and live, thus having an impact on increasing land transformation. This research aims to assess the capability of remote sensing satellite imagery, especially Landsat 8 Oli Imagery for multi-temporal monitoring of Kendari city land transformation in 2010-2021. The research method used is survey research with the Urban Index (UI). The research results show that the multi-temporal land transformation of the city of Kendari in 2010-2021 using a spectral approach on Citra Landsat shows that the city of Kendari is experiencing an increase in the amount of undeveloped land and conversely, there is a decrease in the amount of undeveloped land. The total area of built-up land in 2010 and 2021 is 6,670 ha and 11,182 ha, respectively. The interpretation results have an accuracy of 85% with a kappa value of 69% (strong). Thus, the results of the interpretation have a strong relationship with the results of checking in the field

Abstract

Andoolo District is an area that is very prone to flooding, such as the flash flood in 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the areas prone to flooding and to determine the data accuracy on the map based on the actual situation in Andoolo District. This type of research is survey and mapping research. Primary data was collected by direct review of the flood location and documentation. Secondary data includes administrative maps, soil type maps, rainfall maps, land use maps, slope maps, and distance from river maps collected from related agencies. Flood vulnerability maps are grouped into classes of not vulnerable, rather vulnerable, quite vulnerable, vulnerable, and very vulnerable. The vulnerable level occupies the largest proportion of 5,128.54 ha or 52% of the total area. The accuracy of the data on the map and the actual situation shows that there are 5 villages exposed to flooding, namely Alangga, Andoolo, Punggapu, Lalobao, and Potoro. s

Abstract

The phenomenon of unemployment in rural areas reflects an imbalance between the availability of job opportunities and the growing workforce, which is further exacerbated by limited access to skills training. Matanauwe Village is one of the villages facing this issue, particularly among its youth. The purpose of this study is to identify the empowerment strategies implemented by the Matanauwe Village government in addressing youth unemployment. This research adopts a qualitative approach. The informants consist of 15 individuals, including the village head, community leaders, unemployed youth, and youth who are already employed or engaged in entrepreneurship. These informants were selected because they possess knowledge, experience, and direct involvement in unemployment issues and their solutions within the village. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques employed are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study reveal that the empowerment strategies to overcome youth unemployment in Matanauwe Village include the provision of guidance or training, youth empowerment through farmer group initiatives, and youth empowerment through motorcycle repair and carpentry enterprises under the supervision of the Karang Taruna (youth organization). These strategies contribute to enhancing youth skills, independence, and employment opportunities, although the scope of these programs remains limited.

Abstract

Local wisdom plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance while supporting sustainable agricultural practices. This study aims to identify the practices of the Panggoba tradition among farming communities in Leboto Village, North Gorontalo. The research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the Panggoba tradition, which includes determining planting schedules based on indigenous astronomy and performing the Rotan Tikus ritual for pest control is still preserved by some farmers. This tradition contributes to regulating planting seasons, reducing pest control costs, and maintaining ecological balance. However, modernization and climate change have reduced the intensity of its practice. The study highlights that the Panggoba local wisdom carries ecological, social, and economic values that remain highly relevant for sustainable agricultural development.
