Abstract

Abstract

Strengthening cooperative governance is a crucial factor in enhancing the effectiveness, transparency, and sustainability of members’ businesses. This community service aims to improve institutional management, financial administration, and productive business development at the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, Tapanuli Selatan Regency. The method employed was intensive participatory assistance, including training in cooperative administration, financial record-keeping, business planning, and periodic performance evaluation. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with cooperative management and members, and analysis of financial reports and business documents. The results indicate an improvement in the management’s capacity to prepare accurate financial statements, systematically manage member administration, and design productive business plans based on local needs. Furthermore, the program encouraged members to actively participate in decision-making and cooperative performance evaluation. Observed impacts include more organized administration, enhanced transparency in financial reporting, and better-implemented productive business initiatives that are targeted and sustainable. These findings demonstrate that systematic and continuous assistance can significantly improve the overall governance of village cooperatives, strengthen member participation, and ensure the sustainability of cooperative enterprises. The conclusion emphasizes that this model of institutional, financial, and productive business management assistance is feasible for replication in other village cooperatives with similar contexts.

Abstract

The fast paced transformation of the modern job market demands that university students possess not only academic knowledge but also mental and social preparedness. Despite this, a considerable number of prospective graduates still experience anxiety regarding their transition into professional roles. Consequently, this research investigates how self-efficacy and social support impact the employability of students at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Utilizing a quantitative causal design, the study selected 98 respondents via purposive sampling. Empirical data gathered through a Likert-scale survey were processed using multiple linear regression analysis via SPSS. The findings reveal that both self-efficacy and social support exert a positive and statistically significant influence on students' employability, either individually or concurrently. Elevated self-confidence enables students to better navigate recruitment processes, while adequate support from family, peers, and the academic community fosters motivation and clarifies career trajectories. Ultimately, this study highlights that achieving employability goes beyond mere academic excellence, it fundamentally relies on individual psychological resilience and a nurturing social ecosystem.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of human resource competency development on work productivity and tests the mediating role of knowledge management at the Palm Oil Research Center (PPKS) Medan. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted using 60 purposively selected employees and researchers who were involved in competency-development, research, and knowledge-sharing activities. Data were collected through a five-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed in IBM SPSS using item validity tests, Cronbach’s alpha, classical-assumption tests, regression-based path analysis, and the Sobel test. Human resource competency development had a strong positive effect on knowledge management (B = 0.568, β = 0.709, p < 0.001) and a positive direct effect on work productivity (B = 0.545, β = 0.461, p = 0.001). Knowledge management also positively affected work productivity (B = 0.465, β = 0.315, p = 0.019). The first model explained 50.3% of the variance in knowledge management, whereas the second model explained 51.7% of the variance in work productivity. Recalculation of the indirect effect using the mediator-to-outcome coefficient produced a Sobel statistic of 2.299 (p = 0.022), indicating partial mediation. The findings demonstrate that competency development produces stronger productivity gains when employee knowledge is systematically created, documented, shared, and applied. PPKS Medan should therefore integrate competency mapping, continuous learning, mentoring, communities of practice, and a searchable institutional knowledge repository within a unified human-resource and knowledge-management strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-control and work environment on cyberloafing behavior among employees of PT Buana Sawit Indah. A quantitative approach with a causal research design was employed, involving 52 employees as respondents. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate that both self-control and work environment have a significant negative effect on cyberloafing behavior, both individually and simultaneously. Employees with higher levels of self-control tend to demonstrate greater discipline in regulating their online activities and are less likely to engage in non-work-related internet use during working hours. Similarly, a supportive work environment characterized by clear organizational policies, effective supervision, and a positive organizational climate contributes to reducing employees' tendency to engage in cyberloafing behavior. These findings suggest that cyberloafing behavior is influenced not only by individual factors but also by organizational conditions. Therefore, efforts to minimize cyberloafing should focus on enhancing employees’ self-regulation capabilities while simultaneously fostering a conducive work environment. Organizations are encouraged to implement policies that strengthen behavioral control, establish clear guidelines regarding internet usage, and create a positive workplace atmosphere to improve employee productivity and organizational performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse production capacity management in a snack food company in dealing with production overload, particularly during high-demand periods such as Christmas, New Year, and Eid. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews consisting of ten questions addressed to employees in the production, operations, and warehouse departments. The questions covered capacity adjustment strategies, overtime policies, recruitment of additional workers, raw material management, production constraints, quality supervision, post-production evaluation, assessment of current capacity, scheduling of production and distribution, and technology investment. In addition to interviews, direct observation was conducted to ensure the consistency between employees’ statements and the actual field conditions. The results show that the company relies on historical data-based planning, workforce optimisation, and production flexibility to handle increased demand. However, challenges such as product quality, limited machinery, and time pressure remain major issues that require continuous management. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of the importance of adaptive capacity strategies in the snack food industry.

Abstract

The development of financial technology has encouraged mosques to adopt non-cash transaction systems in managing infaq. This study aims to examine the effect of cash and non-cash transaction usage on infaq decisionmaking among worshippers at Al-Jihad Mosque, Medan Baru. This research employed a quantitative method with a comparative approach. Data were collected through a survey using questionnaires distributed to 120 respondents who were worshippers of Al-Jihad Mosque. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data analysis was preceded by validity and reliability tests, followed by a normality test to determine the appropriate hypothesis testing method. The results of the normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the hypothesis was tested using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is less than the significance level of 0.05. This finding indicates a significant difference in infaq decisions between worshippers who use cash transactions and those who use non-cash transactions. The results suggest that transaction methods have a significant influence on worshippers’ infaq decisions. Therefore, the implementation and development of non-cash transaction systems in mosques are expected to facilitate infaq practices and encourage greater participation among worshippers
