Abstract

Fashion has become one of the emerging industries in Indonesia with the increasing purchasing power of the society, social media exposure, and globalization, which drives the society to make it a means of self-expression and lifestyle manifestation. Amid fast-fashion trends, thrift fashion appears as an alternative for sustainable and affordable clothing consumption and grows popular, especially among young groups. Although the ban on the import of second-hand clothing has been imposed, the thrift shop phenomenon continues to grow in many different cities, including Padang. This research analyzes the influence of lifestyle, perceived price, and product quality on consumer purchase decisions at thrift shops in Padang. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was invoked. Data were collected through an online-based questionnaire with a 1-5 Likert scale distributed to 320 respondents, who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The respondent criterion was consumers who previously purchased thrift products. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique with SmartPLS version 4.0 software. Results demonstrated that lifestyle, price, and product quality significantly and positively affected purchase decisions at thrift shops, confirming that thrift fashion consumptions were impacted by not only economic considerations but also lifestyle preferences and perceived quality, particularly among young groups, who were considered the latest trend-sensitive.

Abstract

The creative economy, especially related to the fashion subsector, becomes a critical contributor to Indonesia’s economic growth, and yet also comes along with fast-fashion issues, with their environmental and social impacts. As an alternative, sustainable fashion made on traditional textiles, e.g., Minangkabau woven fabrics and batik, dyed with tannin-based natural coloring agents from gambier, offers a significant potency. However, research on factors influencing consumer purchase intention for these products remains limited, particularly in West Sumatra, calling for the need to analyze how social influence and willingness to pay more impact purchase intention and how they drive eWOM. A quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique was invoked, with data collected through an online survey of 160 respondents. Data were then analyzed using the SEM-PLS technique. Results demonstrated that social influence and willingness to pay more had a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Additionally, purchase intention was found to mediate the formation of eWOM. These findings both corroborate the literature concerning sustainable consumer behaviors and afford practical implications for producers to apply social networking, fix a premium price as a symbol of quality and sustainability, educate consumers to elevate their loyalty, and broaden market reach through eWOM.

Abstract

Purpose – The low number of active users of the Indonesian state-owned enterprises related to electricity compared to the total number of registered users indicates challenges in promoting sustainable use. This study analyzes the factors influencing continuous intention and use behavior by adopting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) model, which has been expanded to include the variable of trust.Methodology – A quantitative approach, incorporating hypothesis testing techniques, was employed in this study. There were 370 samples, selected using purposive sampling, consisting of PLN Mobile users in West Sumatra who had used the PLN Mobile app within the past three months. Data was collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0 software with structural equation modeling techniques.Findings – Hedonic motivation, price value, habit, trust, social influence, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating factors all had a positive and significant impact on continuous intention. Habit and facilitating conditions also have a favorable and substantial impact on use behavior. Continuous intention mediates the relationship between trust and use behavior, having a favorable and significant effect on use behavior.Originality/Novelty – This study highlights the role of the UTAUT2 model and trust in influencing sustained intention and usage behavior among mobile application users at state-owned enterprises related to electricity.Implications – The findings of this study will help PLN, as an Indonesian state-owned enterprise related to electricity, understand the significant role of aspects in the UTAUT2 model and trust in shaping sustainable intention and usage behavior among PLN Mobile app users.

Abstract

In recent years, various countries have used a government- and academic-developed concept of competitiveness as a tool to measure the performance of companies, industries, regions, and governments. In Indonesia, MSMEs play an important role in economic growth and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people. One of the culinary businesses in West Sumatra Province is rendang. Rendang is a dish that must be served at every special occasion, such as Minangkabau traditional ceremonies, wedding parties, the welcoming of honored guests, and other events. This research aims to analyze the impact of innovation speed on competitiveness through creative destruction, as well as the impact of innovation speed and Creative destruction on competitiveness. There were 75 respondents—rendang MSMEs in West Sumatra—selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire. The data analysis technique used was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. The research results show that the speed of innovation has a positive and significant effect on creative destruction and competitiveness; creative destruction has a positive and significant effect on competitiveness; and Creative destruction significantly mediates the effect of the speed of innovation on competitiveness.
