Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of fermented Moringa (Moringa oliefera) leafextract given through drinking water on the physical composition of broiler carcasses. A totalof 90 day-old broilers (Day-Old Chicks) of CP 707 strain produced by PT Charoen PokphandIndonesia, Tbk, were used in this study. The study used a completely randomized design(CRD) with 3 treatments namely EF0/control, EF1 3% and EF2 6% fermented moringa leafextract in drinking water and each treatment was carried out a total of 6 repetitions, resulting in18 experimental units. The observed variables were: slaughter weight, carcass weight, meatpercentage, bone percentage, and skin and fat percentage. The results of adding 3% (EF1) and6% (EF2) fermented moringa extract to drinking water significantly (P<0.05) increased themeat percentage by 7.04% and 10.38% respectively compared to EF0/control. EF1 and EF2treatments significantly (P<0.05) decreased the percentage of skin and fat by 21.17% and35.78%, respectively, compared to EF0/control. The results of the study showed that feedingfermented moringa extract up to 6% had no significant impact (P>0.05) on slaughter weight,carcass weight, and bone percentage. It was concluded that feeding fermented moringa extractthrough drinking water at 3% and 6% increased meat percentage and decreased skin-fatpercentage, but did not affect slaughter weight, carcass weight, and bone percentage of broilers.It is recommended to use the 6% treatment of fermented moringa extract through drinkingwater on the physical composition of broiler carcasses. ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh ekstrak daun kelor (Moringa oliefera)fermentasi yang diberikan melalui air minum terhadap komposisi fisik karkas broiler. Sebanyak90 ekor broiler berumur satu hari (Day-Old Chicks) dari strain CP 707 yang diproduksi oleh PTCharoen Pokphand Indonesia, Tbk, dipakai pada penelitian ini. Penelitian menggunakanRancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan yaitu EF0/kontrol, EF1 3% dan EF2 6%ekstrak daun kelor terfermentasi pada air minum dan tiap-tiap perlakuan dilakukan sejumlah 6kali pengulangan, sampai menghasilkan sebanyak 18 unit eksperimen. Variabel yang diamatiialah: bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase daging, persentase tulang, serta persentase kulitjuga lemak. Hasil penambahan ekstrak daun kelor terfermentasi 3% (EF1) dan 6% (EF2) padaair minum secara signifikan (P<0,05) meningkatkan persentase daging masing-masing sebesar7,04% dan 10,38% dibandingkan dengan EF0/kontrol. Perlakuan EF1 dan EF2 terjadipenurunan yang signifikan (P<0,05) pada persentase kulit dan lemak masing-masing sebesar21,17% dan 35,78%, daripada EF0/kontrol. Hasil penelitian pemberian ekstrak daun kelorterfermentasi hingga 6% tidak berdampak signifikan (P>0,05) atas bobot potong, bobot karkas,serta persentase tulang. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun kelor terfermentasimelalui air minum 3% dan 6% menunjukkan peningkatan terhadap persentase daging danmenurunkan persentase kulit-lemak, tetapi tidak mempengaruhi bobot potong, bobot karkas,serta persentase tulang broiler. Disarankan agar menggunakan perlakuan 6% ekstrak daun kelorterfermentasi melalui air minum terhadap komposisi fisik karkas broiler.

Abstract

Abdominal fat is one of the body fats located in the abdominal cavity. A high level ofabdominal fat can affect the carcass yield, ultimately reducing the proportion of meat produced.This study aims to investigate the effect of providing Physalis extract in drinking water on theabdominal fat of broilers. The research was conducted at the Farm of the Faculty of AnimalScience, Udayana University, over 31 days, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and six replications, with five birds per treatment unit. The treatments were: P0= no Physalis extract; P1 = 2% Physalis extract; and P2 = 4% Physalis extract. The variablesobserved included pad fat, mesenteric fat, ventriculus fat, and abdominal fat. The researchresults showed that the administration of ciplukan extract in drinking water at levels of 2% and4% had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of pad fat, mesenteric fat, ventricularfat, and abdominal fat in broilers. It can be concluded that administering ciplukan extract on2% and 4% level in drinking water has not been able to reduce the abdominal fat percentage inbroilers. ABSTRAK Lemak abdominal merupakan salah satu lemak tubuh pada bagian rongga perut, akibatyang ditimbulkan jika lemak abdominal tinggi dapat mempengaruhi jumlah karkas, padaakhirnya akan mengurangi proporsi daging yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak ciplukan melalui air minum terhadap lemakabdominal broiler. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Farm Sesetan Fakultas Peternakan, UniversitasUdayana, berlangsung selama 31 hari. Rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang digunakan dengantiga perlakuan dan enam ulangan, serta setiap unit perlakuan diisi 5 ekor broiler. Adapunperlakuan melalui air yaitu; P0 = 0% ekstrak ciplukan; P1 = 2% ekstrak ciplukan; dan P2 = 4%ekstrak ciplukan. Variabel yang diamati yaitu, lemak bantalan, lemak mesentrium, lemakventrikulus, dan lemak abdominal. Hasil penelitian pemberian ekstrak ciplukan melalui airminum dengan level 2% dan 4% berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase lemakbantalan, lemak mesentrium, lemak ventrikulus, dan lemak abdominal broiler. Berdasarkanhasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak ciplukan pada taraf 2% dan 4%melalui air minum belum mampu untuk menurunkan persentase lemak abdominal broiler.

Abstract

Quail is one of the livestock commodities that produce meat and eggs. The advantage ofquail at the age of 42 days, female quail can produce eggs and high protein in meat. Quail meatcontains 73.2% water, 22.5% protein, 2.5% fat, and 0.94% ash. Dragon fruit skin is rich inpolyphenols as antioxidants and antibacterials. This study aims to review the effect of addingfermented dragon fruit skin extract (Effective Microorganism 4) through drinking water onquail performance which was conducted at Sesetan Farm, Faculty of Animal Husbandry,Denpasar, Bali for 2 months. The study used RAL for 4 treatments, 5 repetitions and eachrepetition included 3 quails. The treatments given were divided into drinking water without theaddition of dragon fruit skin extract (P0), drinking water with 1% dragon fruit skin extract (P1),drinking water with 2% dragon fruit skin extract (P2), drinking water with 3% dragon fruit skinextract (P3). The observed variables include initial body weight, feed consumption, drinkingwater consumption, final body weight, weight gain and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). Thefindings of this study showed that the addition of fermented dragon fruit skin extract at levelsof 1%, 2%, and 3% did not differ significantly > 0.05 from the initial body weight, final bodyweight, feed consumption, weight gain and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) but had a significanteffect <0.05 on drinking water consumption. It can be concluded that the administration offermented dragon fruit skin extract through drinking water at levels of 1%; 2% and 3% indrinking water has not been able to increase the performance of quails, although it has asignificant effect on quail drinking water consumption. ABSTRAK Burung puyuh ialah diantara komoditi peternakan yang menghasilkan daging serta telur.Keunggulan burung puyuh di usia 42 hari burung puyuh betina telah bisa memproduksi telurdan tinggi protein pada daging. Daging burung puyuh terkandung air 73,2%, protein 22,5%,lemak 2,5%, serta abu 0,94%. Kulit buah naga kaya atas polifenol sebagai antioksidan jugaantibakteri. Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan dalam meninjau pengaruh penambahan ekstrakkulit buah naga fermentasi (Effective Microorganisme 4) Lewat air minum pada performaburung puyuh yang dilakukan pada Farm Sesetan, Fakultas Peternakan, Denpasar, Balisepanjang 2 bulan. Penelitian memanfaatkan RAL atas 4 perlakuan, 5 ulangan serta setiapulangan mencakup atas 3 ekor burung puyuh. Adapun perlakuan yang diberi terbagi atas airminum dengan tidak penambahan ekstrak kulit buah naga (P0), air minum atas 1% ekstrak kulitbuah naga (P1), air minum atas 2% ekstrak kulit buah naga (P2), air minum atas 3% ekstrakkulit buah naga (P3). Variabel yang diamati mencakup bobot badan awal, konsumsi ransum,konsumsi air minum, bobot badan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan serta Feed ConversionRatio (FCR). Temuan penelitian ini memperlihatkan kalau penambahan ekstrak kulit buah nagaterfermentasi pada level 1%, 2%, serta 3% berbeda tidak nyata > 0,05 dari bobot badan awal,bobot badan akhir, konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan serta Feed Conversion Ratio(FCR) tetapi mempunyai pengaruh nyata < 0,05 pada konsumsi air minum. Dapat diambilsimpulan kalau pemberian ekstrak kulit buah naga terfermentasi lewat air minum pada taraf1%; 2% serta 3% dalam air minum belum bisa menaikkan performa burung puyuh sedangkanberpengaruh dengan cara signifikan pada konsumsi air minum burung puyuh.

Abstract

Quail is one of the poultry species with many advantages. It has a fast growth rate andhigh reproductive capability. Quail meat contains a high level of protein, approximately 21.1%.Dragon fruit peel is rich in polyphenols, which act as antioxidants and antibacterial agents. Thisstudys aim to investigate the effects of fermented dragon fruit peel extract administered throughdrink water on carcass and non-carcass production in quails. The research was conducte over aperiod of two month at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Denpasar, Bali. A CompleteRandomized Design (CRD) was used, consist of four treatment and five replications. Thetreatment included: drink water without dragon fruit peel extract (P0), drink water with 1% (P1),2% (P2), and 3% (P3) fermented dragon fruit peel extract. The observed variable includedslaughter weight, carcass weights, carcass percentace, and the percentace of internal anda externaloffal. The result show that the addition of 1%, 2%, and 3% dragon fruit peel extract is nothingsignificant effects (P>0.05) on carcass weight, slaughter weight, carcass percentages, and thepercentage of external and internal offal in quails. It is capable to conclude that theadministrations of 1%–3% fermented dragon fruit peel extract in drink water does not affectsslaughter weight, carcass weight, carcas percentace, or the percentace of internal and externaloffal in 8-week-old quails. ABSTRAK Burung puyuh tergolong unggas dimana mempunyai banyak keunggulan. Burung puyuhmempunyai pertumbuhan dan reproduksi yang cepat. Daging burung puyuh mengandung kadarprotein yang tinggi yakni 21,1%. Kulit pada buah naga banyak memuat polifenol sebagaipelindung sel beserta antibakteri. Penelitian memiliki tujuan yakni guna memahami efekdiberikannya ekstrak kulit buah naga difermentasi melalui air minum atas produksi karkas sertanon karkas unggas ini. Penelitian dilakukan selama 2 bulan dan bertempat di Fakultas Peternakan,Denpasar, Bali. Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) mencakup keempat perlakuan serta limapengulangan adalah rancangan kajian peneliti. Empat perlakuannya melingkupi: air minum tidakdisertai ekstrak kulit buah naga (P0), air minum disertai 1% ekstrak kulit buah naga (P1), 2%(P2), 3% (P3). Variabel pengamatan meliputi berat karkas, berat potong, persentase karkas,persentase offal eksternal dan internal. Hasil pemberian ekstrak kulit buah naga menerangkanyakni 1%, 2%, serta 3% tidak mempengaruhi secara nyata (P>0,05) atas berat potong, beratkarkas, persentase karkas, persentase offal eksternal pun internal puyuh. Simpulan penelitian iniyakni dalam memberikan ekstrak kulit buah naga sejumlah 1%-3% di air minum tidakmempengaruhi berat karkas, berat potong, persentase karkas, serta persentase offal eksternal daninternal burung puyuh usia 8 pekan.

Abstract

In the animal husbandry industry right now, the use of antibiotics as feed additives hasdrawn a lot of criticism because it causes resistance. Therefore, there is a need for natural feed additives to boost broiler performance. This research aims to investigate the effect of addingciplukan extract (Physalis angulata L.) to drinking water on broiler performance. The researchwas conducted over 30 days using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatmentgroups and six replicates. Each replicate involved five broilers with an average initial bodyweight of 49.6±2.48 g. The treatments applied were: P0 (control, only regular drinking water),P1 (drinking water supplemented with 2% ciplukan extract), and P2 (drinking watersupplemented with 4% ciplukan extract). The variables observed in this research included initialbody weight, feed intake, drinking water intake, final body weight, weight gain, and feedconversion ratio (FCR). The results of this research indicate that the addition of ciplukan extractat concentrations of 2% and 4% has a significant effect (P<0.05) on feed intake, FCR anddrinking water intake. However, there is no significant difference (P>0.05) in final body weightand weight gain of broilers with the addition of this extract. In summary, it can be concluded thatthe administration of ciplukan extract at 2% and 4% through drinking water reduces feed intakeand FCR while increasing water intake. However, the addition of ciplukan extract at both levels(2% and 4%) does not significantly increase final body weight and weight gain of broilers duringthe 1-30 day rearing period. ABSTRAK Di dunia peternakan saat ini, pemberian antibiotik sebagai feed additive banyak menuaihal negatif, karena menimbulkan resistensi. Maka perlu adanya feed additive alami dalammemacu performa broiler. Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk meneliti dampak penambahanekstrak ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.) pada air minum terhadap performa broiler. Penelitian inidilakukan selama 30 hari menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga jenisperlakuan dan enam kali ulangan. Masing-masing ulangan melibatkan lima ekor broiler denganrata-rata bobot badan awal 49,6±2,48 g. Perlakuan yang diterapkan yaitu: P0 (kontrol, air minumbiasa), P1 (air minum ditambahi 2% ekstrak ciplukan), dan P2 (air minum ditambahi 4% ekstrakciplukan). Variabel yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini meliputi bobot badan awal, tingkatkonsumsi ransum, jumlah konsumsi air minum, bobot badan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan,dan feed conversion ratio (FCR). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrakciplukan pada konsentrasi 2% dan 4% memberikan pengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) terhadapkonsumsi ransum, FCR dan konsumsi air minum. Namun, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan(P>0,05) pada bobot badan akhir dan pertambahan bobot badan broiler dengan penambahanekstrak ini. Secara ringkas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak ciplukan sebesar 2%dan 4% melalui air minum dapat mengurangi konsumsi ransum serta FCR, sekaligusmeningkatkan suatu konsumsi air minum. Akan tetapi, penambahan ekstrak ciplukan pada kedualevel tersebut (2% dan 4%) tidak secara berarti meningkatkan bobot badan akhir danpertambahan bobot badan broiler selama periode pemeliharaan 1-30 hari.
