Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ethnomodeling found in the Sundanese Merak dance. This type of research is qualitative research with ethnographic methods. There are three elements that are the sources of research data, namely the place and actors that occur at the PUSBITARI (Pusat Bina Tari Irawati Durban) and ISBI Bandung studios. The researcher conducted direct interviews with classical Sundanese dance maestros, dance trainers, dancers, and dance teachers. The activities carried out were conducting initial observations and direct interviews with informants. The data collection technique in this study used triangulation. The data analysis used was content analysis techniques, triangulation techniques, and finding patterns. The results of the study showed that the trainers and dancers of the Sundanese Merak dance at the PUSBITARI and ISBI Bandung studios tended to be proficient in mathematics in determining the direction of the dancers with the concept of related angles or by using time or clock benchmarks. Ethnomodeling in the Sundanese Merak dance is based on the 10 most important directions which are the concept of the relationship between the clock hands and the size of the angle. This calculation is a mathematical concept on how to calculate the size of the angle of the dancer's direction of face which is related to the direction of the clock hand and the concept of relational angle.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum (KMB) in lower secondary mathematics education aims to transform the educational paradigm towards critical thinking and constructivism. However, the reality on the ground shows a gap between policy vision and classroom practice. This study uses a descriptive literature review method to identify and analyze various problems in the implementation of KMB in mathematics. The results of the study indicate four main pillars of obstacles: (1) limited adaptive resources and teaching aids, (2) low professional readiness of teachers in their roles as facilitators of differentiated learning, (3) students' psychological resistance to independent learning, and (4) inconsistency in conceptual understanding among stakeholders. These findings emphasize that the success of KMB requires holistic synergy through the optimization of local resources, strengthening teacher competence in Learning Communities, and psychological interventions to build a participatory learning culture. The conclusion of this study highlights the importance of systematic mitigation strategies to ensure that KMB functions optimally in improving the quality of mathematics education sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe the mathematical concepts contained in the floor patterns of the Kele Dance from Ciamis Regency through an ethnomathematics approach. The main problem in this research is the view that mathematics is a discipline separate from local culture, requiring efforts to uncover the connection between the two as a contextual learning resource. The research method used is qualitative with a critical ethnography approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with dance masters, and audiovisual documentation. Data analysis was carried out using data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Kele Dance floor patterns contain various geometric concepts, including geometric transformations in the form of reflection in the "lengkah" and "nandean" movements, and dilation in the "nyiuk di luhur" movement. Additionally, plane geometry concepts such as concentric circles in the "ronggeng gunung" movement, and pentagons were found, as well as one-dimensional geometry in the form of horizontal lines. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Kele Dance is a cultural artifact representing the spatial and logical-mathematical intelligence of the Ciamis people, which can be integrated into culture-based mathematics learning.
