Abstract

The digital economy has changed how consumers make purchasing decisions. The growth of e-commerce, social media platforms, digital recommendations, and digital payment systems has made consumption more fast-paced and emotionally driven. This study explores changes in consumer demand in the digital economy from an Islamic economics perspective, focusing on ethical and welfare issues.This research uses a qualitative method through digital ethnography. Data were collected by observing publicly available consumer activities, such as comments, reviews, and shopping experiences on platforms like Shopee, Tokopedia, TikTok Shop, Instagram, and TikTok. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis.The results show that consumer demand is influenced by algorithms, promotional pressure, and easy payment systems such as e-wallets and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL). These features encourage impulsive buying and reduce control over spending. Some consumers later realize the risk of overconsumption and financial problems.From an Islamic economics perspective, these patterns raise ethical concerns related to Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, especially the protection of wealth and rational thinking. This study highlights the need for ethical digital platforms, better consumer awareness, and policies that support responsible digital consumption.

Abstract

Agama Islam mengajarkan umatnya untuk berusaha mencapai kehidupan yang seimbang antara kesejahteraan dunia dan akhirat, termasuk dalam aspek ekonomi dan ketenagakerjaan. Islam memberikan pedoman komprehensif mengenai hubungan antara pekerja dan pemberi kerja yang menekankan prinsip keadilan, kemaslahatan, serta penghargaan terhadap hak-hak tenaga kerja. Dalam perspektif Islam, tenaga kerja memiliki peranan penting dalam pembangunan ekonomi dan sosial, sehingga pekerja berhak memperoleh upah yang adil sesuai dengan jasa, kemampuan, dan usaha yang telah diberikan. Prinsip utama yang mendasari konsep ketenagakerjaan dalam Islam meliputi keadilan (al-‘adl), tanggung jawab, serta perlindungan terhadap hak-hak pekerja. Islam melarang segala bentuk ketidakadilan dalam hubungan kerja, seperti pemberian upah yang tidak sesuai, eksploitasi tenaga kerja, pemaksaan kerja tanpa kompensasi yang layak, serta penyalahgunaan kekuasaan oleh pemberi kerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan menelaah berbagai sumber literatur seperti buku, jurnal ilmiah, artikel, dan dokumen terkait yang relevan dengan konsep ketenagakerjaan dalam Islam. Metode ini bertujuan untuk menguji keabsahan suatu pengetahuan serta memecahkan permasalahan berdasarkan fakta empiris dan kajian ilmiah yang telah ada. Melalui pendekatan ini, penelitian berupaya memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam mengenai prinsip-prinsip ketenagakerjaan dalam Islam serta relevansinya dalam praktik hubungan kerja modern. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam menciptakan sistem ketenagakerjaan yang adil, manusiawi, dan berlandaskan nilai-nilai Islam.
