Abstract

The Batamat al-Qur’an tradition in Banjar society represents the acculturation of Islam with local culture, embedding profound educational values. The central issue addressed in this study is how Batamat functions both as a religious ritual and as a medium for internalizing Islamic values. The research aims to explore its concept, philosophy, identity, and educational significance. A qualitative-descriptive approach was employed, relying on literature review, document analysis, and historical-cultural studies of Banjar traditions. Findings reveal that Batamat is not merely a Qur’anic completion ceremony but also a means of strengthening tawhid, worship, morality, and social solidarity. The tradition manifests in diverse forms mass Batamat, wedding Batamao, manyaratus, mulutan (Maulid celebration), and Ramadan tadarus each affirming the Qur’an’s role as a guide for life. Ultimately, Batamat serves as a medium for character and spiritual education, fostering discipline, responsibility, gratitude, and communal harmony. This makes Batamat al-Qur’an highly relevant for contextualization within modern Islamic education, bridging cultural heritage with contemporary pedagogical needs.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for students to understand the scientific structure of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) within the national curriculum and its relevance to character formation. PAI is understood as a subject that not only transfers religious knowledge but also internalizes Islamic values in daily life. The scientific structure of PAI encompasses four main branches: Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morals), Fiqih (Islamic Jurisprudence), Al-Qur’an Hadith, and Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (Islamic Cultural History/ICH). These branches are designed in an integrated manner to develop the students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach through the analysis of curriculum documents, textbooks, and academic journals. The results show that PAI material in Junior High Schools (SMP/MTs) focuses on the basic introduction to faith, worship, and morals, while in Senior High Schools (SMA/MA), it is directed more toward deepening, critical analysis, and the application of religious values in the context of modern life. These findings affirm that the scientific structure of PAI plays a strategic role in creating a religious generation with noble morals who are capable of facing the dynamics of modern life.

Abstract

The 2025 Aceh-Sumatra flood disaster not only caused physical and material impacts but also gave rise to complex psychological and social issues. In this context, emotional intelligence and empathy become crucial factors in building individual resilience and social solidarity. This study aims to examine the concept of emotional intelligence according to Daniel Goleman, analyze empathy as the core of social awareness, and integrate it with the perspective of the Qur'an. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The primary data sources include the works of Daniel Goleman and the Qur'an, along with the Tafsir Fi Zhilal al-Qur'an by Sayyid Quthb, while secondary sources consist of relevant books and academic journals. Data analysis is conducted in a descriptive-analytical and integrative manner. The study findings show that Goleman's concept of emotional intelligence includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, which are interrelated. Empathy occupies a central position as a bridge between personal and social competencies. From the Qur'anic perspective, empathy is seen as a manifestation of faith reflected in brotherhood, social care, and gentleness of heart. The integration of Western theory and Islamic perspective demonstrates that empathy is not only a psychological skill but also a spiritual value that guides concrete actions in times of crisis. This research concludes that the integration of emotional intelligence and Qur'anic values can serve as the foundation for strengthening emotional and social education, as well as building a resilient and empathetic society in the face of disaster.
