Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for students to understand the scientific structure of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) within the national curriculum and its relevance to character formation. PAI is understood as a subject that not only transfers religious knowledge but also internalizes Islamic values in daily life. The scientific structure of PAI encompasses four main branches: Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morals), Fiqih (Islamic Jurisprudence), Al-Qur’an Hadith, and Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (Islamic Cultural History/ICH). These branches are designed in an integrated manner to develop the students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach through the analysis of curriculum documents, textbooks, and academic journals. The results show that PAI material in Junior High Schools (SMP/MTs) focuses on the basic introduction to faith, worship, and morals, while in Senior High Schools (SMA/MA), it is directed more toward deepening, critical analysis, and the application of religious values in the context of modern life. These findings affirm that the scientific structure of PAI plays a strategic role in creating a religious generation with noble morals who are capable of facing the dynamics of modern life.

Abstract

This research, titled “The Education of Aqidah and Akhlaq in the Family of K.H. Hanafie Gobit,” examines how aqidah and moral education are applied within the family of a prominent Islamic educator from South Kalimantan. The research is motivated by growing concerns over the moral decline of younger generations in the face of globalization and technological advancement, highlighting the crucial role of family education as the primary foundation in shaping children’s character. The family of K.H. Hanafie Gobit is selected because it is widely recognized for successfully raising children with strong aqidah and noble character. The study aims to describe the implementation of aqidah and akhlaq education in this family. Using a qualitative approach with a biographical study design, data were collected through interviews and documentation. The subjects of the study are the children of K.H. Hanafie Gobit, while the focus of investigation is the family’s educational practices. The findings reveal that aqidah education is carried out through advice, habituation, exemplary behavior, and storytelling, with core materials including belief in Allah, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and Divine Decree. Moral education is delivered through similar methods, advice, habituation, and role modelling and covers personal morals, family ethics, social conduct, and religious behavior. The study concludes that parental roles are highly influential in shaping children’s personalities. Consistent and affectionate transmission of Islamic values has a significant impact on character formation. The educational model practiced by K.H. Hanafie Gobit offers a valuable reference for strengthening Islamic character education in the modern era.

Abstract

Contemporary hadith studies demonstrate a shift from purely textual approaches toward contextual understandings that view the Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah as a living tradition within Muslim social practices. One of the emerging approaches is the study of living sunnah or living hadith, which considers the Sunnah not only as a normative text but also as religious traditions, behaviors, and practices continuously observed by Muslim communities. This article aims to examine the theoretical concept of living sunnah and to explain its applications in Muslim society, particularly in the Indonesian context. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research with a descriptive-analytical design, using primary and secondary literature related to living hadith studies. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis with descriptive and interpretative methods. The findings reveal that living sunnah is manifested in three main models: written traditions, oral traditions, and practical traditions. These models are reflected in various religious practices such as aqiqah, tahlilan, qunut in the dawn prayer, dhikr, and the tradition of hadith recitation in Islamic boarding schools. This study concludes that living sunnah demonstrates the dynamic and adaptive nature of hadith, allowing the Prophet’s teachings to remain relevant within diverse socio-cultural contexts without losing their essential Islamic values.
