Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using poetry as a medium of self-expression on students’ writing interest at SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Amin, Sorong City. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The sample consisted of 35 students selected purposively. Instruments included a Likert scale writing interest questionnaire and a poetry writing test. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test and Cohen’s d effect size. The results revealed a significant increase in writing interest scores, from 71.89 (pretest) to 108.49 (posttest) with p 0.05. Cohen’s d value of 0.54 indicated a moderate effect. These findings confirm that poetry learning is effective in enhancing students’ motivation, creativity, and writing interest. The study implies the importance of integrating creative literary works into Indonesian language learning to foster literacy and character development. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan puisi sebagai media ekspresi diri terhadap minat menulis siswa SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Amin Kota Sorong. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu tipe one group pretest-posttest pada 35 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket minat menulis berbasis skala Likert dan tes menulis puisi. Data dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test dan effect size Cohen’s d. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan skor rata-rata minat menulis dari 71,89 (pretest) menjadi 108,49 (posttest) dengan p 0,05. Nilai Cohen’s d sebesar 0,54 mengindikasikan pengaruh kategori sedang. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pembelajaran puisi efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi, kreativitas, dan minat menulis siswa. Implikasinya, integrasi karya sastra kreatif perlu diperkuat dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk mendukung pengembangan literasi dan karakter peserta didik.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan jenis kode dan fungsi kode dalam wacana Kh.J di Kabupaten Tegal. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik penyediaan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik rekam, teknik simak bebas libat cakap (SBLC), dan teknik catat. Dalam analisis data digunakan metode padan referensial dan teknik baca markah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis kode yang digunakan dalam wacana Kh.J di Kabupaten Tegal, Jawa Tengah, terdiri atas kode Indonesia yang berwujud bahasa Indonesia yang berupa kalimat ajakan, kode Arab yang berwujud bahasa Arab, kode Indonesia yang berwujud ragam baku yang berupa kalimat kompleks, dan kode Indonesia yang berwujud ragam nonbaku. Sementara itu, fungsi kode dalam wacana Kh.J di Kabupaten Tegal, Jawa Tengah, terdiri atas fungsi emotif, fungsi konatif, fungsi fatis, fungsi referensial, dan fungsi metalingual.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of context-based Indonesian language learning in improving the literacy skills of the Kokoda community in Papua. The study is motivated by the low literacy levels influenced by the dominance of local languages, limited access to education, and the lack of learning approaches relevant to daily life contexts. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method combined with a community-based participatory approach (Community-Based Learning). The research design used a one-group pre-test–post-test model involving 45 participants from various age groups. Data were collected through literacy tests, observations, reflective interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results show that the initial literacy level of participants was categorized as low, with a mean score of 48.0. After the intervention, a significant improvement was observed, with the mean score increasing to 72.7. This improvement is supported by the paired sample t-test result (t = 12.45; p < 0.05), indicating statistical significance. In addition, participant engagement during the learning process was high, suggesting that the context-based approach effectively enhances motivation and participation. Therefore, context-based Indonesian language learning is proven to be effective in improving literacy skills and can be recommended as a strategic approach for literacy eradication and sustainable literacy development in local communities.
