Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of Jürgen Habermas's thought in understanding the phenomenon of modern spirituality and the social dynamics of Generation Z in the digital era. Using a qualitative research method with a philosophical-analytical approach, this study examines Habermas's central concepts such as communicative action, the public sphere, the lifeworld, and discourse ethics. The results indicate that modern spirituality, which is personal and fluid, serves as a form of cultural resistance against the colonization of the lifeworld by the instrumental rationality of economic and bureaucratic systems. Meanwhile, Generation Z faces significant challenges within a digital public sphere that is often distorted by algorithms, polarization, and misinformation, which hinders the establishment of rational and deliberative communication. The study concludes that Habermas's theory provides a crucial normative framework for revitalizing healthy dialogue, constructing emancipatory digital ethics, and assisting Generation Z in restoring the depth of life's meaning amidst the pressures of the modern system.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA) of Medan Petisah District in realizing sakinah families within the community. A sakinah family is one of the main goals of marriage in Islam, characterized by tranquility, affection, and harmony based on faith and devotion to Allah SWT. This study aims to analyze the concept of a sakinah family from an Islamic perspective, as well as the role and forms of family development activities carried out by the KUA of Medan Petisah District. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through interviews and documentation involving KUA officials and religious counselors. The findings indicate that the KUA plays an active role through premarital guidance and religious counseling in fostering sakinah families. This study is expected to contribute as an evaluation and provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness of sakinah family development programs.

Abstract

Trust in Allah (tawakal) is an Islamic principle that emphasizes the balance between making maximum effort and surrendering the final outcome to Allah. The understanding of tawakal is believed to influence the work ethic of Muslims in carrying out economic activities, particularly among traditional traders who face various challenges in their daily business activities. This study aims to analyze Muslim traditional traders' understanding of tawakal, describe their work ethic, and examine the relationship between the understanding of tawakal and the work ethic of Muslim traditional traders in Neighborhood XV, Simpang Selayang Village, Medan Tuntungan District, Medan City. This study employed a qualitative field research design with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most traders understand tawakal as surrendering the results of their efforts to Allah after striving optimally. This understanding contributes to a positive work ethic characterized by discipline, responsibility, honesty, patience, and enthusiasm at work. The study highlights that tawakal plays an important role in shaping Muslim traders' attitudes and behaviors in conducting economic activities.
