Abstract

This community service study aims to develop an innovative religious literacy–based model to strengthen religious moderation among students at Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Ibnurusyd Lampung. The program involved 60 undergraduate students and 5 lecturers, who served as facilitators and co-researchers. It was implemented through structured educational activities, including religious literacy training, cross-perspective discussion forums, and reflective writing workshops. These activities were designed to address students’ limited cross-perspective understanding of religion and tendencies toward exclusive interpretations. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, positioning students and lecturers as active participants in collaborative learning and reflective action. The PAR cycle was conducted over three months and consisted of problem identification, participatory planning, action implementation, observation, and reflective evaluation. Program outcomes were measured using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, interviews, participatory observation, and reflective journals. Quantitative results show an average increase of 32% in students’ understanding of religious moderation, particularly in tolerance, balance (tawazun), justice (i‘tidal), and openness to differences. Qualitative findings indicate positive attitudinal shifts, including increased empathy, greater inclusivity, and enhanced collaboration. The program developed an innovative, religious literacy–based model that integrates cognitive, affective, and practical dimensions, reflecting a collaborative approach and potential replicability in other Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen the professional capacity of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in developing the Operational Curriculum for Educational Units (KOSP) based on the Independent Curriculum in North Lampung Regency. This activity was motivated by teachers' limited ability to compile KOSP documents, Learning Objective Flows (ATP), and contextual teaching modules aligned with the principles of independent learning. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was implemented as a participatory mentoring model, positioning PAI teachers as active partners throughout the problem identification, implementation, reflection, and evaluation processes. This program involved PAI teachers from 20 educational units and was implemented through structured activities, including socialization, interactive training, collaborative KOSP and ATP workshops, ongoing mentoring, and joint reflection. The results of the community service demonstrated improvements in teachers' curriculum development practices, as participants were able to produce school-based KOSP documents, design systematic ATP aligned with learning outcomes, and develop contextual and differentiated PAI teaching modules tailored to student characteristics and the local context. In addition, the mentoring process fostered increased self-confidence, collaboration, and reflective awareness. The uniqueness of this activity lies in the PAR-based mentoring design, which emphasizes active involvement, collaborative learning, and sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the digital competence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students at STAI Ibnurusyd, who served as the main participants and partners, through digital-based learning training to support Indonesia’s National Digital Education Transformation policy. The program was conducted at STAI Ibnurusyd, involving 30 PAI students, using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through pre–post questionnaires using a Likert scale to measure six indicators: understanding digital learning concepts, ability to use digital platforms, creativity in media design, digital literacy, collaborative attitudes, and innovation in microteaching practice, supported by observation and interview data. The results showed an average increase of 50% in participants’ scores across the six indicators, moving from the “moderate” to the “high” competence category. Students demonstrated improved ability to design interactive learning media using applications such as Google Classroom, Canva Edu, and Quizizz. The main outputs of this program include a digital learning training module, examples of interactive learning media products, and a practical implementation model that can be replicated in similar institutions. To support sustainability, a digital learning community was established among students to ensure continued practice and mentoring after the program. This program contributes to strengthening prospective PAI teachers' readiness to become professional educators with digital competence and supports innovation in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning evaluation strategy of Islamic Education in improving the quality of learning in modern Islamic Elementary Schools. The study used a qualitative approach with a field study method in six Islamic Elementary Schools in Kotabumi, North Lampung. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that first, the implementation of the learning evaluation strategy of Islamic Education has led to the use of authentic evaluation through the assessment of worship practices, religious projects, observation of attitudes, and digital media that can increase student engagement and creativity in learning. Second, supporting factors for the evaluation strategy include teacher competence, support from the principal, technological facilities, and parental involvement, while inhibiting factors include limited teacher digital skills, minimal supporting facilities, and high administrative burdens. Third, the learning evaluation strategy has positive implications for improving the quality of Islamic Education learning, especially in increasing learning motivation, learning effectiveness, and strengthening students' religious and social character. Thus, the learning evaluation strategy of Islamic Education plays an important role in creating innovative, effective, and Islamic character-oriented learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of Artificial Intelligence in transforming Islamic education learning based on spiritual and humanistic values. The development of digital technology has brought about major changes in the world of education, including in the learning process of Islamic education. The presence of Artificial Intelligence provides opportunities to create learning that is more innovative, interactive, flexible, and adaptive to the needs of students. However, the implementation of AI also gives rise to various problems, such as technological dependence, decreased humanistic interaction, weakened critical thinking skills, and the potential for a reduction in spiritual values in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research. Data were obtained from scientific journals, books, and various relevant literature sources, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results show that the use of AI can increase the effectiveness of Islamic education learning when integrated with spiritual and humanistic values. This integration strategy is carried out through strengthening the role of teachers as moral guides, developing ethics-based digital literacy, and implementing humanistic learning based on Islamic values. Thus, the use of AI in Islamic education needs to be directed to create a balance between technological advancements and the formation of students' religious character.
