Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan secara mendalam kreativitas siswa sekolah dasar dalam mengolah sampah menjadi produk gantungan kunci ramah lingkungan. Fokus pembahasan diarahkan pada bagaimana siswa mampu memanfaatkan berbagai jenis sampah, seperti plastik, kain perca, dan kertas bekas, sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan gantungan kunci yang memiliki nilai estetika dan kegunaan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus agar proses kreatif siswa dapat diamati secara langsung dan mendalam. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kegiatan, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi terhadap hasil karya yang dihasilkan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengolahan sampah memberikan ruang yang luas untuk berkembangnya kreativitas siswa. Mereka mampu menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir imajinatif melalui pemilihan bahan, pemilihan warna, penggabungan bentuk, hingga menghasilkan desain gantungan kunci yang unik dan bervariasi. Tantangan yang ditemukan meliputi keterbatasan keterampilan awal, kurangnya variasi bahan bekas, dan perlunya bimbingan guru pada tahap teknis. Namun, dukungan guru melalui arahan, contoh produk, serta suasana belajar yang kolaboratif membuat siswa lebih berani mencoba dan mengekspresikan ide. Selain meningkatkan kreativitas, kegiatan ini juga menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan pada siswa, terutama terkait pentingnya mendaur ulang sampah dan mengurangi penggunaan barang sekali pakai. Siswa menjadi lebih peduli terhadap lingkungan sekolah dan termotivasi untuk memanfaatkan sampah sebagai sumber bahan berkarya. Secara keseluruhan, pengolahan sampah menjadi gantungan kunci tidak hanya memperkaya pengalaman belajar, tetapi juga menjadi sarana efektif dalam membentuk karakter kreatif dan berwawasan lingkungan pada siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically explore the fundamental challenges and effective strategies implemented by elementary school teachers in achieving an optimal balance between their primary teaching duties in the classroom and their responsibilities in fostering extracurricular activities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study method to analyze the teachers' lived experiences. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis related to time management and curriculum. The results revealed several key challenges, such as tight time management, high administrative burden, physical and mental exhaustion, and limited resources. Schedule conflicts between core lessons and extracurricular activities often posed a significant obstacle. To address these challenges, teachers implemented several effective strategies. These strategies included: (1) careful planning and scheduling; (2) delegation of tasks and collaboration with fellow teachers or parents; (3) utilization of technology to improve administrative efficiency; and (4) development of stress management skills. In conclusion, although balancing teaching duties and fostering extracurricular activities is a complex challenge, teachers can manage it effectively with well-planned strategies and support from the school. This study recommends more flexible school policies and adequate resource allocation to support teachers' dual roles

Abstract

The impetus for this research stems from the limited availability of website based interactive multimedia that integrates Jambi local wisdom, reading comprehension exercises and teacher-managed content features within elementary reading instruction. Although digital media and local wisdom-based resources have been developed in prior studies, few have explicitly connected local cultural texts with interactive inferential and evaluative reading activities tailored for fifth-grade students. This study aims to develop and examine the feasibility and effectiveness of interactive multimedia grounded in Jambi local wisdom to enhance the reading comprehension of elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The product was developed as a website featuring Jambi-localized reading texts, visual, audio support, interactive quizzes and a teacher content-management feature. The subjects comprised 15 fifth-grade students at SDN 93/I Lopak Aur. Data were collected through observations, interviews, expert validation sheets and reading comprehension pretests and posttests, then analyzed using expert validation percentages, paired sample t-tests and N-gain analysis. Expert validation demonstrated high feasibility, with scores of 97% from media experts, 91% from material experts and 89% from language experts. Students’ mean reading comprehension score increased from 74.00 on the pretest to 88.67 on the posttest. The paired sample t-test confirmed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001) and the N-gain score of 0.5777 fell into the moderate category, indicating the multimedia’s effectiveness. This study contributes both scientific and practical novelty by offering a culturally responsive, website-based multimedia model that strengthens reading comprehension while empowering teachers to adapt local texts and quizzes to their students’ specific cultural contexts and learning needs.
