Abstract

This article discusses the importance of education in the view of the Qur'an and Hadith using a literature study method, which involves searching various sources such as tafsir books, hadith, and Islamic books. From the results of the study, it is known that education in Islam occupies a very important position, because it is the main way for humans to know Allah, develop their intellect, and form good character. The Qur'an provides the basis for educational teachings, for example through Surah Al-'Alaq [96]: 1-5, which commands us to read and learn, and Surah Al-Mujādilah [58]: 11, which explains that Allah raises the status of those who have knowledge. Meanwhile, the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ emphasizes the obligation to seek knowledge and explains its great importance for every Muslim. Exegetes such as Al-Jalalain, Al-Qurṭubi, Ibn Kathir, and Wahbah az-Zuhaili explain that education is not only about increasing knowledge, but also about drawing closer to Allah and improving morals. Therefore, the values of education in the Qur'an and Hadith need to be revived in today's education system in order to produce a generation that is intelligent, faithful, and of noble character.

Abstract

Arabic morphology (Sharaf) forms the foundation of Arabic literacy in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). However, limited pedagogical preparation among Sharaf teachers often leads to uneven learning outcomes and weak formative monitoring. This study develops a contextual Training of Trainers (ToT) model that integrates the classical text Amsilatu al-Taṣrīfiyyah, the traditional bandongan–sorogan instructional system, and active learning strategies within a structured formative assessment framework.A qualitative case study was conducted at Ma’had Aly An-Nur II Al-Murtadlo from July 2024 to June 2025. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving 16 teacher-trainees, 32 classes (≈1,255 students), and several institutional informants. The ToT program followed a four-stage cyclical model: short workshops, micro-teaching, peer observation and feedback, and journal-based reflection. Process indicators (teaching rubric scores and reflection quality) and outcome indicators (student Sharaf scores and hamzah-writing accuracy) were monitored quarterly. Data were analyzed using the Miles–Huberman–Saldaña framework. The findings show substantial improvements in pedagogical practice and student achievement. The average teaching rubric score increased from 2.8 to 3.6, while reflection quality rose from 2.5 to 3.7. Student learning outcomes also improved, with average Sharaf scores rising from 60–64 to 72–77 and hamzah-writing accuracy reaching 75–80%. These trends indicate a clear relationship between strengthened teacher pedagogical competence and improved student learning outcomes. The ToT–Sharaf model demonstrates that pesantren traditions can function as catalysts for pedagogical innovation when combined with active learning and formative assessment. The model offers a replicable framework for teacher development and sustainable improvement of Arabic morphology instruction in pesantren contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the persistently low communicative proficiency in Arabic among students in formal Islamic senior high schools (madrasahs), which stems from a fundamental perceptual disconnect between educators and learners. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate pedagogical effectiveness through a comparative analysis of teacher and student perspectives on instructional strategies, digital resources, and psycholinguistic barriers. Employing a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaires administered to 4 teachers and 15 students at MA Raudlatul Ulum Putra, followed by in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of instructional tools. The results reveal a statistically significant Methodological Perceptual Gap (p 0.05) across all measured indicators. Teachers perceive traditional grammar-based methods as highly effective, while students report high levels of language anxiety (M = 4.60), cognitive burnout from grammatical overload (M = 4.40, t = 6.25), and a strong desire for more communicative, engaging instruction. Furthermore, although digital facilities are physically available (p 0.05), their utilization remains minimal, creating a provision-utilization gap (p 0.05). The findings demonstrate that teachers and students operate within fundamentally different perceptual frameworks: teachers prioritize curricular completion and grammatical accuracy, while students value practical communication, active engagement, and psychological safety. This study makes three significant contributions: (1) it empirically documents the existence and magnitude of perceptual gaps in madrasah Arabic instruction; (2) it extends the affective filter hypothesis to the Islamic schooling context; and (3) it provides a strategic framework for curriculum revitalization. The findings underscore the urgent need for a paradigm shift from theoretical-scholastic orientations toward communicative-affective approaches, with implications for teacher training, digital integration, and language environment design.

Abstract

School environment quality is widely believed to influence students' cognitive development, yet studies integrating Bronfenbrenner's microsystem framework with Bloom's Taxonomy remain scarce. This study examined the correlation between school environment quality, operationalized through physical classroom conditions, teacher–student relations, peer relations, and learning climate, and students' cognitive processes across six Bloom's Taxonomy levels. A quantitative correlational survey design was applied to 173 female students from an integrated Islamic institution spanning junior and senior high school, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. A 48-item Likert-scale instrument was analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. Results showed a significant positive correlation between school environment and cognitive processes (r = .306, p < .001). The teacher–student relationship was correlated significantly with all six Bloom levels and was the only significant individual predictor in regression (β = .336, p = .001), with the model explaining 13.3% of variance. This study concludes that teacher–student relations emerged as the most consistently associated with microsystem component for students' cognitive processes across all Bloom's Taxonomy levels, showing stronger associations than physical conditions and classroom climate.

Abstract

Background: Traditional linear Arabic language instruction in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) faces a cognitive mismatch with Generation Alpha. Although technology has been adopted, current literature has not yet explored how students’ subjective experiences bridge classical texts with their digital cognitive habits. Objective: This study aims to explore the learning experience narratives of teachers and students in implementing a pedagogical framework that bridges classical Arabic texts with the visual-digital logic of the contemporary generation. Methods: This research employs a qualitative case study design with a narrative approach. Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with four students and two teachers. The thematic analysis method by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña was utilized to deconstruct the flow of subjects’ experiences and reflections. Results: The study reveals that Generation Alpha possesses a dominant intuitive-visual literacy inclination in processing information. Participant narratives indicate that the “creative-hybrid bridge” strategy, which integrates digital aesthetics into classical texts, successfully transformed the learning experience from passive rote memorization into active, game-based discovery. The findings highlight an enrichment in reading comprehension quality and the growth of learner autonomy rooted in the synchronization of materials with the students’ visual logic. Conclusion: The proposed pedagogical interface model provides a theoretical contribution to digital language pedagogy within traditional environments. This model proves that integrating digital cognitive architecture into classical materials can sustain linguistic traditions without losing substantive depth for future generations.
