Abstract

Karang Besuki Village, particularly the Jalan Raya Candi II corridor, is recognized as a promising hub for the sanitary industry. However, technological advancements and social changes present challenges in maintaining the area’s identity. This study aims to analyze the impact of the built environment on the identity of the sanitary industry area using a descriptive qualitative approach, while also providing community service-based strategic recommendations for preserving the area’s identity. The analysis focuses on building functions, visual elements, and the built environment's characteristics that support the area's existence as a sanitary industry center in Malang City. Additionally, the study examines changes in residential building functions within the corridor to identify factors influencing the area's visual image. Through a community service-based approach, this research is expected to strengthen collaboration between local communities, government, and stakeholders

Abstract

Kota Kendari memiliki karakteristik iklim tropis lembap dengan suhu udara dan tingkat kelembapan yang relatif tinggi sepanjang tahun. Kondisi tersebut berpengaruh terhadap kenyamanan termal bangunan, termasuk bangunan peribadatan yang digunakan secara intensif oleh masyarakat. Masjid Al Alam Kendari sebagai salah satu masjid ikonik yang berada di kawasan pesisir Teluk Kendari memiliki tantangan tersendiri dalam menciptakan kenyamanan termal bagi jamaah akibat pengaruh radiasi matahari, kelembapan udara, dan kondisi lingkungan pesisir. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kapasitas pengelola masjid dalam menerapkan prinsip-prinsip arsitektur tropis guna mendukung kenyamanan termal bangunan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi lapangan, identifikasi kondisi eksisting bangunan, sosialisasi, diskusi, serta pendampingan kepada pengelola masjid terkait strategi penerapan arsitektur tropis. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa Masjid Al Alam telah memiliki beberapa elemen arsitektur yang mendukung kenyamanan termal, seperti keberadaan bukaan alami, area semi terbuka, dan pemanfaatan ventilasi alami. Namun demikian, masih terdapat beberapa aspek yang dapat dioptimalkan, terutama terkait pengendalian radiasi matahari dan peningkatan sirkulasi udara pada area tertentu. Kegiatan ini memberikan pemahaman kepada pengelola masjid mengenai pentingnya penerapan prinsip arsitektur tropis sebagai upaya meningkatkan kualitas kenyamanan termal jamaah serta mewujudkan bangunan masjid yang lebih responsif terhadap kondisi iklim pesisir tropis.

Abstract

Global Warming is an issue issue in the implementation and efforts to create a green building. The greenhouse effect that causing global warming are increasingly standing tall. National and international development and international development that is not friendly to the environment needs to be to be considered. To address these issues, an organization called the World Green Building Council (WGBC) was established. an institution called the world green building council (WorildGBC), which is one of the estabilished members in Indonesia. one of its estabilished members is in Indonesia, namely the green building council Indonesia (GBCI). Green building assessment standards and guidelines issued by GBCI is a reference for use by people in Indonesia. The civil engineering and planning faculty building is a building that has been built for a long time. built, has a function as a faculty office on the first floor and a teaching and learning function on the second to fourth floors. teaching and learning functions on the second floor to the fourth floor. In the assessment using GBCI standards against the building, then the acquisition obtained is 42 assessment points, or a percentage of 35.90% and the predicate is bronze. To improve the bronze predicate to gold is the need for procurement and improvement that must be done. The procurement and improvements made to the six assessment categories.
