Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dissemination of hoaxes in digital business by focusing on the role of social media content creators as key actors in online product promotion. The rapid growth of internet penetration in Indonesia has been accompanied by an increase in digital fraud and misleading content, partly driven by non-transparent promotional practices and exaggerated claims. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and secondary data from official government reports, online media, academic journals, and relevant regulations, this research applies the agenda-setting theory proposed by Maxwell E. McCombs and Donald L. Shaw as its analytical framework. The findings reveal that content creators hold a strategic position in shaping media agendas, influencing public agendas, and triggering policy agendas. The lack of promotional transparency, weak certification regulations, low digital literacy, and platform algorithm incentives contribute to the spread of misleading information. Therefore, strengthening transparency regulations, implementing certification mechanisms for creators in high-risk sectors, enhancing digital literacy, and optimizing platform supervision are essential to building a more ethical, safe, and accountable digital business ecosystem.

Abstract

Digital communication ideally constitutes a formative arena that cultivates the moral and intellectual maturation of adolescents as active constituents of the digital generation. Yet prevailing social media practices are frequently characterised by the proliferation of misinformation, cyberbullying, unrestrained self-disclosure, and compulsive validation-seeking, tendencies that progressively erode moral accountability and compromise the coherent development of personal identity. This study interrogates the principle of responsibility in digital communication as a normative substrate for adolescent character formation, and proposes a conceptual framework for embedding both personal and collective accountability into the fabric of everyday social media engagement. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical methodology grounded in systematic literature review, conceptual excavation, and critical reflection on the prevailing dynamics of digital communication, the study delineates three cardinal dimensions of responsibility: personal responsibility, encompassing self-regulation and the rigorous verification of information; social responsibility, entailing a heightened awareness of public ramifications and an unwavering commitment to the inviolability of human dignity; and structural responsibility, pertaining to the constitutive roles of the family, educational institutions, government, the Church, and civil society in furnishing ethical guidance and regulatory oversight. Collectively, these findings substantiate the claim that responsibility-centred character education is both contextually urgent and normatively indispensable for adolescents navigating the complexities of the digital milieu. Responsible digital communication thus emerges as a strategic trajectory for cultivating a generation of reflective, autonomous, and integrity-driven youth capable of engaging thoughtfully and ethically with the profound challenges posed by contemporary digital technology.

Abstract

Literacy culture is a reflective practice that enables humans to understand life experiences more deeply. Through reading and writing, humans not only record reality but also interpret the meaning of various events experienced in daily life. However, the development of digital technology has changed the way humans acquire knowledge. Information is now readily available through various online media, such as social media, comments, and short text snippets. This situation raises questions about the difference in the quality of understanding between literacy obtained through fast-paced digital media and literacy obtained through the process of reading books in depth. This study aims to analyze the comparison between the practice of reading brief information in digital media and reading books in their entirety in relation to character building and depth of individual understanding. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature study. The results of the study show that digital literacy provides easy access to information, but often results in superficial understanding due to its instant and fragmentary nature. Conversely, reading books allows for a more in-depth reflection process, builds intellectual perseverance, and contributes to the formation of a stronger individual character. Thus, the culture of reading books continues to play an important role in building depth of thought and intellectual identity in the midst of the digital information flow.

Abstract

The Teing Hang Kolang rite is an important traditional practice of the Manggarai community that sustains the continuity of relationships between humans, nature, and ancestors to the present day. This study aims to explore and reinterpret the rite from an eschatological perspective, offering deeper insight into the relationship between human beings and creation as part of the journey toward the fullness of life. It finds that the rite embodies eschatological meaning and spiritual dimensions that affirm the interconnectedness of the human world, the spiritual realm, and cosmic harmony. Using a descriptive method through in-depth remote interviews and literature review, the research shows that the rite is not merely a routine act of honoring ancestors, but a religious practice that connects humans with God as Creator through concrete actions such as maintaining balance and harmony with nature. Consequently, the Teing Hang Kolang rite represents a form of contextual theology rooted in the lived experience of the Manggarai people, emphasizing that salvation is not only spiritual liberation but also the renewal of all creation, while integrating ancestral memory, ecological harmony, and a holistic vision of the future ##default.groups.name.author## Edit Delete SettingsHenokh Albert Ware Mere merehenokhetty@gmail.com ##default.groups.n

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of Karl Marx’s concept of religion as the “opium of the people” in the context of contemporary technological development. The research is motivated by the ambivalent role of religion in modern society, where the advancement of science and technology simultaneously strengthens rationality while also generating existential crises and a loss of meaning. This study employs a qualitative approach with a library research method, focusing on critical analysis of Marx’s philosophical texts and their relevance to current social phenomena. The findings indicate that religion possesses an ambivalent function: it serves as a source of psychological comfort and existential stability, yet it can also function as an ideological mechanism that obscures social reality and hinders transformation. In the digital era, the “opium” function of religion finds its parallel in technology, which similarly operates as a means of escaping human suffering. Nevertheless, this study argues that religion cannot be reduced to mere illusion, as it continues to play a significant role as a source of values, reflection, and social transformation.

Abstract

The history of Christian evangelization in Flores, particularly in Lembata and Solor, reveals that local languages play a crucial role as tools of communication and faith inculturation. Early missionaries recognized that using indigenous languages was essential for making the Gospel understandable and acceptable to communities with existing belief systems and religious traditions. Through local languages, the message of faith was not only conveyed informatively but also connected deeply with the cultural context and lived experiences of the people. This study aims to examine the role of local languages in early missionary work and their relevance in contemporary Church life. It employs a qualitative method with a literature review and historical analysis approach. The findings show that local languages function as cultural identity markers, means of social interaction, and media for religious experience. Language serves not merely as a communication tool but also as a bridge linking humans to their faith experiences and relationship with God. Therefore, preserving local languages in Church practices such as prayer, catechesis, and liturgy is essential to strengthen the faith identity of believers amid the challenges of modernization.
