Abstract

Abstract Essay writing skills are an important aspect of education because they help improve students' critical and analytical thinking abilities. This study discusses the results of applying an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) to enhance students' essay writing skills in Senior High Schools (SMA). The specific objectives are: (1) to implement an IndoBERT-based NLP model that can identify grammatical errors and provide suggestions for improvement in students' essays; (2) to test the effectiveness of this model through experiments in high schools by comparing groups that use the AI application with a control group that does not; and (3) to obtain responses from students and teachers regarding the use of NLP-based AI in improving writing skills, including sentence structure, grammar, and depth of argumentation.This research was conducted with twelfth-grade students at SMAN 1 Garut in the 2025–2026 academic year. A mixed-methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory design was used, beginning with a quantitative phase to test the effectiveness of the model, followed by a qualitative phase to gain an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of IndoBERT use in essay writing classes.The findings indicate that the application of this model is effective for essay writing. This is evidenced by a p-value of 0.002 (< 0.05). The mean difference of 10.281 demonstrates a substantial improvement in the experimental class. Furthermore, qualitative data from interviews with teachers and students showed positive responses. Keywords: essay writing, IndoBERT, mixed method

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis web dengan memanfaatkan Google Sites pada materi Dasar-Dasar Desain Grafis di SMK Pasundan 2 Garut. Fokus utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, mempermudah pemahaman konsep desain grafis, serta mendukung pembelajaran mandiri. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE, yang mencakup Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, validasi oleh ahli, dan angket respon pengguna. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua ahli media, satu ahli materi, dan 30 siswa yang menjadi pengguna media. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa persentase kelayakan dari ahli materi adalah 85%, ahli media 82,5%, dan respon siswa 81,25%, yang semuanya berada dalam kategori layak. Media ini dinilai telah memenuhi kriteria kelayakan dari segi isi, tampilan, dan manfaat pembelajaran, meskipun kemudahan penggunaan masih memerlukan penyempurnaan, terutama pada navigasi agar lebih responsif di berbagai perangkat. Media ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman siswa, serta mendukung pembelajaran mandiri. Keterbatasan dari penelitian ini mencakup bahwa pengujian efektivitas media belum dilakukan secara eksperimen dan fokus pengembangan hanya pada materi Dasar-Dasar Desain Grafis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian lanjutan dapat memperluas pengujian pada materi lain dan mengukur dampak media terhadap hasil belajar secara kuantitatif. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran berbasis web interaktif yang menggunakan Google Sites layak diterapkan sebagai inovasi dalam pembelajaran digital di sekolah kejuruan.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an e-module using Flip PDF Corporate for Computer Systems material, determine its feasibility based on material and media expert assessments, and describe students' responses after using the product. The study employed a Research and Development approach with the Alessi and Trollip model, which consists of planning, design, and development stages. The research subjects were one material expert, one media expert, and 28 students of class VIII-I at SMPN 6 Garut. Data were collected through observation, unstructured interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The instruments used a five-point Likert scale, and the data were analyzed using mean scores. The planning stage identified limited learning resources and the dominance of textbooks and presentation media. The design stage produced a flowchart, storyboard, and interface design developed with Canva. The development stage generated an interactive flipbook containing structured material, images, videos, quizzes, a glossary, and supporting learning features. The material expert assessment obtained a mean score of 3.92 in the feasible category, the media expert assessment obtained 4.55 in the highly feasible category, and the student response obtained 4.26 in the very good category. These results indicate that the developed e-module is feasible as an alternative digital learning medium for Computer Systems material and is positively received by students.
