Abstract

A Short story is a miniature of people's experience while the characters, plot, and setting aim to record imaginative events (Stanton, 2017). When making up story ideas, students have problems developing story facts such as plot, characters, and settings (Sayuti, 2006). This barrier emerged conflicts that were unevenly distributed across all stages of the course. The direct characterization employed in storytelling made the short stories less varied. The physical and setting depicted did not work out optimally. The advantage of using the synectic model is that it can allow students to look for and makeup concepts to describe objects through an analogy process. Augmented Reality allows users to interact with an object's interface and see it in a well-designed and attractive 3D format, so it can solve student difficulties in developing story ideas in writing short stories.

Abstract

This study deals with the influence of intelligence quotient (IQ) towards the speed-reading ability among high school students in Garut. It aims to reveal whether an individual’s IQ influences his ability to read quickly. This quantitative study used correlational description methods. To gather the data, a test and documentation study were applied involving 40 high school students that were selected through probability sampling technique. The results of the study revealed: 1) Spearman correlation test was conducted due to non-normal data distribution, 2) the Spearman correlation test, Sig 0,754 > alfa 0,05, means IQ level had no significant influence towards students’ speed reading ability, 3) Other factors contributing to the result might be related to: students’ interest and motivation in reading as well as students’ reading habit or activities that may distract them such as vocalisation, lips movements, head movements, regression, and sub-vocalisation.

Abstract

Letters are one of the written communication media used in interaction. In writing letters, especially formal letters, it is not just the contents of the letter that must be considered, but other supporting aspects must also be considered, such as the form of letters and letter editors regarding the use of diction, spelling, and effective kalimsat. During this time, there are still many government and private employees at the lower levels who do not yet know the procedures for writing official letters that meet standard standards. They only make letters by copy and paste from the previous letter examples. They do not have special knowledge and guidelines in making official letters. This is evident from the results of an error analysis in an official letter made by the village apparatus in the Pameungpeuk sub-district of Garut district. The analysis showed that there were inconsistencies in the use of letter forms and letter editor errors including the use of diction, spelling, and effective sentences. In connection with this problem, a formal letter writing training was conducted with the concept of andragogy in the village apparatus in the Pameungpeuk sub-district of Garut district. The training results showed an increase in knowledge and practice in making official letters in accordance with the standard rules for writing formal letters.

Abstract

In the Orde Baru’s period, we have been directed to uniformity in many ways. Indonesia, a diverse cultural country was only directed to uniformity that would shape national culture, including Indonesian.Local diversities were just a complement, an addition to the main culture, so it was out of favor and only considered as a secondary culture. Moreover, the early '90s echoes of globalization began to enter into the soul of Indonesian society. Because ofthat, some communities in Indonesia were eroded in sense of nationalism that destabilize the use of Indonesian and glorifies all which came from abroad, including foreign languages. Whereas local culture is very important in the education of multiculturalism,it should be considered in a multicultural-region like ours, Indonesia. The reason is with the locality they can see themselves and also be able to see everyone else.Decentralization of culture including the use of regional languages will not only grow the local culture but also will raise the creativity and resilience of this nation from the onslaught of globalization.

Abstract

Abstract Indonesian language skills are basically formed due to training both naturally and through education. Language skills are needed as a means of community life skills. Likewise, at an early age, children who are in this golden age need to be well supported by their skills. At TKQ Nura'eni, Indonesian language teaching training is carried out so that students can learn. Teachers realize that students' linguistic potential must be directed and supported. The linguistic potential of students has been directed to three languages, namely regional languages, Indonesian and Arabic. This is because the students had previously been in contact with Arabic in their daily routines, namely through reading Iqra, the Koran, and memorizing prayers. This linguistic potential must be developed. So this counseling is carried out using a method that has been adapted to the cognitive development stage of early childhood, namely the QnA teaching method through singing activities. This will make it easier for children to process the language material that is being delivered. It turned out that the results were very maximal, and supported their language development in getting to know them in various ways.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of PowerPoint learning multimedia on increasing motivation and student learning outcomes in the Indonesian language subject in class XII IPS 2 MA Daarul Abroor Tasikmalaya. The method used is pre-Experimental Design. With the form of One-Group Pretest-Postest Designs, which compares the results of the pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research was 32 students, namely class XII IPS 2 MA Daarul Abroor Tasikmalaya. Researchers used data collection techniques in the form of pre-test and post-test. From the results of this study, the following conclusions were obtained: (1) The use of PowerPoint learning multimedia was effective in increasing student motivation in Indonesian language subjects in Class XII IPS 2 MA Daarul Abroor Tasikmalaya. This is proven by the Wilcoxon Test that z = -4.940 and the value of Asym.Sig (2-tailed) -0.000 because the resulting value of Asym.Sig (2-tailed) is smaller than the alpha used, which is 0.05, then Ho is rejected or Ha accepted; and (2) The use of PowerPoint learning multimedia is effective in improving student learning outcomes in the Indonesian language subject in Class XIl IPS 2 MA Daarul Abroor Tasikmalaya. This is proven by the Wilcoxon Test, the value of z = -4.939 and the value of Asym.Sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 because the resulting value of Asym.Sig (2-tailed) is smaller than the alpha used, which is 0.05, then Ho is rejected or Haha accepted.
