Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of phrase analysis in syntactic studies for understanding the structure and relationships among components within Indonesian sentences. As grammatical units, phrases play a strategic role in shaping meaning, so they should be examined in terms of their constituent elements and their functions in the text. This study aims to analyze the use of adjectival phrases and prepositional phrases found in news texts. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with observing and note-taking techniques, supported by a syntactic theoretical approach. The findings show that there are twenty-five adjectival phrases and sixty-eight prepositional phrases identified in five news texts published on Tempo.com in August 2025. “lebih cepat” is one example of an adjectival phrase found in the texts, while “ke arah pendemo” is an example of a prepositional phrase. These findings indicate that Indonesian phrases have systematic formation patterns and complementary syntactic functions. This research serves as a useful reference for the development of syntactic studies, linguistic learning, and the analysis of phrase usage in various language contexts.

Abstract

Violations of the cooperative principle frequently occur in dialogues of comedy films, one of which is the romantic comedy film Falling in Love Like in the Movies by Yandi Laurens. This study aims to identify and describe the forms of maxim violations of the cooperative principle found in the film, as well as to analyse the function of maxim violations in building character and conflict among characters. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data in this research consist of utterances between characters that contain violations of the cooperative principle. The research data were collected using observation and note-taking techniques, while the data analysis was conducted using equivalence methods. The findings of this study indicate violations of the maxims of quality, quantity, relevance, and manner. The aim of this research is to make theoretical contributions to the deve lopment of pragmatic studies, particularly regarding the cooperative principle and maxim violations in film dialogues, as well as the creation of humour, conflict, and character development in the characters. In addition, this research is also expected to serve as a reference and consideration for future research discussing similar topics.

Abstract

Fenomena bahasa semakin banyak ditemukan dalam komunikasi digital salah satunya campur kode. Campur kode dapat kita jumpai dalam konten podcast atau siniar yang relatif santai dan interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis atau bentuk, faktor penyebab, serta fungsi campur kode bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris dalam episode podcast Cinta Exploring Opportunities "Between Dreams, Ambition, and Time." Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data melalui teknik simak catat tuturan yang mengandung unsur campur kode, kemudian ditranskripsikan dan dianalisis secara kontekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campur kode yang ditemukan dalam podcast tersebut terdiri dari dua bentuk yaitu campur kode kata dan frasa. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi campur kode meliputi kebiasaan multibahasa penutur, kepraktisan istilah bahasa Inggris, dan konteks komunikasi santai di media digital. Fungsi pencampuran kode yang diidentifikasi meliputi fungsi referensial, ekspresif, dan interaksional. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan studi sosiolinguistik, khususnya dalam memahami dinamika penggunaan bahasa di era digital.
