Abstract

This study analyzed the implementation of the character education program at Public Elementary School 24, Pontianak Kota District. The study's focus included the principal's role, the substance of the policy, communication strategies, implementation by teachers and students, and the achievement of objectives. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, employing data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The findings of the research revealed that: (1) The principal acted as a policy initiator through the flagship program "7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children," which was formulated collaboratively; (2) The character policy integrated religious values, discipline, honesty, mutual cooperation, independence, courage, creativity, and environmental awareness into various school activities; (3) Program communication was carried out effectively through coordination meetings, WhatsApp groups, and the school's social media; (4) Teachers and students played active roles as implementers in the habituation of character values through daily activities and learning; (5) The program succeeded in shaping positive student behavior despite facing challenges in monitoring the use of digital devices. The research findings recommended the importance of consistency in implementation, enhancing teacher capacity, and strengthening collaboration with parents to optimize character education in elementary schools.
