Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health concern with substantial physical and psychological effects on patients. Studies have shown that the prevalence of depression is higher among patients with multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB)-TB than among non-MDR-TB patients and among females than among males. These findings underscore the importance of addressing mental health issues in patients with TB. This study aimed to analyze the predictors of Common Mental Health Disorders (CMHD) among patients with TB in Indonesia. Methods: Data were derived from the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI 2023). A subsample of 830 patients with active TB and complete data was analyzed. The variables included sex, marital status, educational attainment, employment status, health insurance ownership, other infectious diseases, history of chronic diseases, visual impairment, hearing impairment, smoking status, engagement in vigorous physical activity, residential classification, primary household drinking water source, and home ownership status. CMHD status was assessed using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). The analyses were performed using chi-square tests and logistic regression models. Results: The CMHD prevalence was 7.3%. Unemployment (OR=3.074; 95% CI: 1.791–5.274; p<0.001), lack of health insurance, and visual impairment (OR=2.456; 95% CI: 1.430–4.220; p=0.001) were significant predictors, whereas ownership of subsidized (OR=0.343; 95% CI: 0.140–0.837; p=0.019) and non-subsidized or private insurance (OR=0.402; 95% CI: 0.225–0.718; p=0.002) were protective. Conclusion: Routine mental health screening and socioeconomic support should be integrated into TB control programs.

Abstract

Introduction: Improper Manual Material Handling (MMH) increases the risk of occupational accidents and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among warehouse loading workers. Therefore, effective educational efforts are needed to improve workers’ knowledge. This study aimed to determine the effect of video-based health education on manual handling knowledge among warehouse loading workers at CV. Sinar Boga Lestari. Methods: This study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design with a quantitative approach. The population and sample consisted of all 30 warehouse loading workers. Knowledge data were collected using a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Paired t-test. Results: The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 50.67 in the pretest to 84.00 in the posttest. The Paired t-test indicated that video-based health education had a significant effect on respondents’ manual handling knowledge (ρ = 0.000). Conclusion: Health education delivered through video media is effective in improving manual handling knowledge among warehouse loading workers at CV. Sinar Boga Lestari. Recommendations: The company is expected to implement video-based manual handling education as a routine program for workers.

Abstract

Malnutrition remains a public health challenge in Indonesia because it impacts growth and development, and increases the risk of child morbidity and mortality. The causes of malnutrition are multifactorial, including direct and indirect factors. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of malnutrition in toddlers in South Kalimantan Province. This study is a secondary data analysis using data sources from the 2023 South Kalimantan Provincial Health Profile, with 13 districts/cities as analysis units. The dependent variable is the percentage of malnutrition in toddlers, while the independent variables include the percentage of low birth weight (LBW), exclusive breastfeeding, and pneumonia. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with the enter and backward methods. The results showed that only the variable of exclusive breastfeeding had a significant effect on the incidence of malnutrition (p <0.05), with a negative coefficient indicating that increasing the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding can reduce the incidence of malnutrition. Meanwhile, the variables of low birth weight (LBW) and pneumonia did not show a significant effect. The conclusion of this study is that exclusive breastfeeding is a factor that can reduce the risk of malnutrition in toddlers, so mothers are advised to exclusively breastfeed without additional food or drink until the baby is six months old to ensure optimal nutritional needs are met.
