Abstract

The incidence rate of measles cases in Indonesia is still high at 3.20/1000 population in 2016 while the national target is 0/1000 population. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between vaccination status and laboratory serology test results of IgM measles. The research design used case control, data obtained from secondary data from C1 sheet 2016 Cirebon regency. Samples in this study were 60 positive IgM cases and 34 negative IgM controls that had met inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument uses a document sheet of secondary data of individual measles cases with documentation techniques in data collection. Data analysis using chi square test. Measles vaccination status was not related to serological laboratory test results of IgM (p value = 0.161, OR = 2.124; 95% CI = 0.849-5.315). There was no association between measles vaccination status and serologic laboratory serology test result.

Abstract

The increasing number of stroke cases and their risk factors is a crisis that needs to be addressed. This study aimed to determine the number of new stroke cases in Bogor, Indonesia, and its risk factors. We conducted a nested case-control study from the Study of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Risk Factors of the National Health Institute of Research and Development, Ministry of Health, Indonesia, in 2018. A deep analysis was conducted on 1.210 respondents based on the subset of baseline this data. Data was collected by interview method on permanent residents in Bogor City, Indonesia in 2018. Diagnosis of stroke was based on the anamnesis of a neurologist and a neurological examination. Independent variables include sociodemographic characteristics, metabolic syndrome, and risky behaviors. The data was analyzed with a dual logistic regression test. The incidence of stroke during 2018 amounted to 48 cases (3.9%). The main determinants of stroke in this population include diabetes mellitus and systolic blood pressure being the main factors for stroke, with each p-value, AOR, and (95% CI) being 0,000, 0.222 (0.122-0.405), 0.003, 0.291 (0.128-0.662). There was no significant difference in metabolic syndrome outcomes one year before the diagnosis of stroke and the year when the stroke was diagnosed. Special attention is needed in DM patients with high blood pressure to prevent stroke.

Abstract

Introduction: The percentage of adolescents in Indonesia was 8.8%. Adolescents aged 15 – 20 years were the second highest (79.2%) injured due to road traffic accidents (RTA) with riding motorcycle. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between several variables that were predicted to be the cause of RTA of adolescents aged 15 – 20 years in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design using data obtained from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas). The research sample was individuals aged 15-20 years who had experienced an injury. A total of 2,042 people were selected based on injuries due to traffic accidents and not from traffic accidents itself. Variables of gender, rural or urban areas, helmet use habits, suitability of using helmets, smoking status, history of consuming minimal alcohol, emotional mental disorder issues and obesity issues. Bivariate analysis used the chi-square test with a significance level of P-value <0.05 and 95% confidence interval (CI), and multivariate analysis used the Binary Regression Logistic test. Results: The variables of gender, helmet use habit, smoking habit, and obesity issues had a significant relationship with P-value < 0.005 with the incidence of traffic accidents in adolescents in Indonesia. After controlling of other variables, the direction of the positive relationship was shown in the variables of gender and obesity status with PR (95%CI) is 1.394 (1.139-1.706) and 1.551 (1.232-1.952). Conclusion: Road Safety Education for adolescents aged 15-20 years, especially adolescents with obesity needs to be structured and implemented according to the needs of adolescents. Abstract

Globally, it is estimated that 10-20% of adolescents experience mental health problems and remains underdiagnosed and untreated. Mental health activities have not been active in Sekaran Public Health Center. Community partnership provide mental health education, training to overcome and prevent mental health problems, and to be peer educators by HOPE (Health Educated, Organized, Practiced, and Empowered) method. Twelve adolescents were screened by Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). All youth cadres had normal difficulty scores, emotional symptoms, and hyperactivity. Two adolescents have threshold category in behavior problems, an adolescent has threshold category in peer problems, and an adolescent has abnormal category in proposocial behavior. There is a difference in mental health knowledge between before and after education is given (p=0,014). It is important for health facilities to regularly provide education and empowerment of adolescents in mental health. This HOPE method can be implemented for other health facilities.
