Abstract

This study examines how Civic Education (PKn) instructional strategies shape the internalization of national character among students in an Islamic junior high school context. Employing a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, quantitative data were collected from 135 students using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and one-way ANOVA. Qualitative data were gathered through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically. Quantitative results indicate a high overall level of national character internalization (M = 4.12), with love for the homeland (M = 4.32) and tolerance (M = 4.21) emerging as the strongest dimensions, while practical nationalism (M = 3.89) remains comparatively lower. A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was found between instructional strategies and national character internalization (r = 0.46, p < .05), alongside significant differences across grade levels (F = 2.87, p = .042), with higher internalization among Grade IX students. Qualitative findings explain these patterns by showing that participatory and experiential strategies such as discussions, simulations, and project-based learning, effectively foster students’ affective engagement and moral reflection, yet opportunities for sustained behavioral enactment remain limited. The findings conceptualize national character internalization as a differentiated process encompassing moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action, where instructional strategies more strongly influence affective commitment than consistent civic behavior. Theoretically, this study contributes to citizenship education scholarship by refining the multidimensional understanding of value internalization. Practically, it highlights the need for inclusive and experience-based pedagogical approaches supported by structured opportunities for real-world civic practice in religious secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the application of guidance for reading the Qur'an for fourth grade students of MIS Muslimat NU Palangka Raya City. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the guidance program is carried out systematically through madrasah support, individual mentoring, and the application of the Iqra method as basic learning and the Tilawati method to improve the fluency and accuracy of reading. The findings of the study revealed that some students still have difficulty in recognizing and reciting hijayah letters, especially in distinguishing between long and short readings (mad and qashr), which are influenced by differences in students' learning ability, comprehension, and focus level. To overcome these obstacles, teachers apply strategies in the form of special attention, practice and repetition of reading, effective time management, and motivation so that students are more concentrated and confident. The results of the study confirm that intensive, gradual, and continuous guidance is effective in supporting the improvement of students' Qur'an reading skills.

Abstract

Holistic assessment is an important approach in the learning process at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) because it emphasizes the balanced assessment of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of students. This article aims to describe the implementation of holistic learning assessment in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, including the concepts, forms, techniques, and challenges in its application. The method used in this article is library research by examining various books, journals, and scientific articles related to learning assessment in Islamic elementary education. The results show that holistic assessment in MI can be implemented through written tests, oral tests, observations, self-assessment, peer assessment, portfolios, and performance assessments. Holistic assessment helps teachers understand students’ development comprehensively, not only in terms of knowledge but also attitudes, character, and skills. However, the implementation of holistic assessment still faces several challenges, such as limited teacher competence, lack of facilities, and the complexity of the assessment process. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents is needed to support effective and meaningful assessment implementation in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of audio-visual media as a learning support in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and analyze the benefits, effectiveness, and constraints of its application in the learning process. The research uses qualitative methods with library research approach. Data were obtained from various sources of literature, such as scientific journal articles, books, theses, proceedings, and previous research relevant to the research topic. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation by reviewing, reading, and analyzing various literature related to audio-visual media in learning. Data analysis using qualitative descriptive techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the use of audio-visual media has a positive impact on the process and learning outcomes in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Audio visual Media can increase learning motivation, student activity, and learning outcomes because learning materials are presented in a more concrete, interesting, and easy to understand through a combination of sound, image, video, and animation elements. In addition, audio-visual media also support student-centered learning so as to create a more interactive and meaningful learning atmosphere. However, its implementation still faces several obstacles, such as limited facilities and infrastructure, lack of teacher skills in utilizing technology, and relatively longer preparation time. Therefore, it is necessary to support the facilities and increase the competence of teachers so that the use of audio-visual media can be applied optimally in improving the quality of learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.
