Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic Studies with smart agriculture as an interdisciplinary approach to addressing contemporary challenges, including food insecurity, environmental degradation, and the ethical use of technology. The objective of this research is to investigate how Islamic ethical principles can inform the development, implementation, and governance of innovative agriculture technologies, ensuring sustainability and social responsibility. The method employed is a systematic literature review of scholarly publications from 2020 to 2025, drawing from agricultural science, information technology, and Islamic ethics. Core Islamic sources—including the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh)—are analysed to identify key ethical concepts such as stewardship (khilafah), justice (‘adl), moderation (wasatiyyah), and the protection of life and resources (maqasid al-Shariah). These principles are then synthesised with current innovative agriculture practices, including the use of Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven decision-making. The results and conclusion indicate that Islamic ethical values strongly support sustainable agricultural practices, responsible data management, and equitable access to technology. However, the study also highlights ethical concerns related to automation, data ownership, and socio-economic justice. Integrating Islamic values into smart agriculture not only enhances technical efficiency but also promotes moral accountability and long-term social sustainability.

Abstract

Administrative management of letters in higher education environments still often faces various obstacles, especially if they are still using manual methods. At the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UINSU, the old system often causes delays in processing, errors in letter numbering, and difficulties when searching for archives. This study aims to see how the implementation of Google Sheets can help optimize digital letter management. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through direct observation and interviews with four administrative staff from three different divisions. The analysis was carried out using a thematic coding approach and inductive content. The results of the study showed a significant increase: the time for recording letters was reduced by 60%, searching for archives became 80% faster, and archiving time was also reduced by 80%. Numbering accuracy increased thanks to the automation feature, while transparency between units improved because all data could be accessed together in real time. In addition, the use of Google Sheets reduces operational costs because it does not require additional devices or software. From these findings, it can be concluded that Google Sheets is a simple but effective digital tool to help the administration process become more efficient, accurate, and transparent. This model also has the potential to be applied to other administrative units that are looking for practical solutions in the digitalization process.

Abstract

The global halal industry has shifted towards fashion, offering vast opportunities for Pekalongan's creative economy. However, despite its status as a UNESCO Creative City, the export of Pekalongan's creative products (crafts and batik) is hindered by MSMEs' low literacy regarding halal value chain standards and critical contamination risks during production. Previous studies have mostly treated the creative economy and halal industry separately, leaving a significant gap in integrative frameworks. Addressing this research gap, this study aims to construct a strategic collaboration model among stakeholders to overcome these export barriers. Using an exploratory qualitative case study method, primary data were gathered through in-depth interviews with key Pentahelix elements—namely government, academia, business, community, and media. The results indicate that integrating comparative cultural advantages with competitive halal compliance through the Pentahelix model triggers value co-creation. This synergy empowers the government as a regulatory catalyst, academia in material innovation, businesses as export aggregators, communities as ethical supervisors, and media for digital branding. This collaboration fosters the "Halal and Ethical Modest Fashion" concept, effectively increasing global market competitiveness. Theoretically, this study contributes to the strategic management literature within the halal ecosystem. Practically, it contributes by recommending local governments to establish a dedicated task force integrating halal certification into the creative economy export roadmap.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to examine the integration of halal ecotourism and sustainable tourism practices, and to explore how ecotourism grounded in Islamic ethical values contributes to environmental, economic, and socio-cultural sustainability. Method: This research employs a qualitative case-based approach. Researchers have conducted observations in tourist destinations and interviewed 10 informants. Data were analysed by analysing community-managed nature-based tourism destinations across mountainous, riverine, and coastal areas in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Result: The findings show that local communities manage most tourism destinations and implicitly apply halal principles, including environmental stewardship, provision of halal facilities, social ethics, and active community participation, which collectively reflect the three pillars of sustainable tourism and align with the maqasid al-shariah framework. Implication: This suggests that combining planning, implementation, and evaluation in a community-based halal eco-tourism framework can strengthen sustainable tourism development by integrating ecological conservation, local economic empowerment, and socio-cultural well-being. Originality or Novelty: This study offers a novel integrative model of halal eco-tourism as a value-driven approach to sustainable tourism, positioning it beyond a niche religious market and contributing to an alternative paradigm for future tourism development.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop a data-driven decision support system that integrates entropy-based objective weighting with the MARCOS ranking method to improve multi-criteria prioritization in credit risk assessment by enhancing objectivity, consistency, and robustness of decision-making outcomes. Design/methods/approach – A hybrid MCDM framework is proposed, combining entropy weighting to determine criterion importance based on data variability and the MARCOS method to rank alternatives relative to ideal and anti-ideal solutions. The approach is evaluated using the Statlog German Credit dataset consisting of 1,000 applicants and six evaluation criteria. Performance is assessed through comparative analysis with conventional methods (TOPSIS and VIKOR), sensitivity testing under weight perturbation, and stability analysis using Spearman rank correlation. Findings - The results demonstrate that the proposed Entropy–MARCOS framework produces reliable and consistent prioritization outcomes. The model achieves a high ranking stability with a Spearman correlation of 0.91 and outperforms conventional MCDM methods in terms of ranking consistency. The findings also indicate that criteria such as age and employment duration have the highest discriminative importance, and the method remains robust under moderate variations in criterion weights. Research implications/limitations – However, the evaluation is limited to a single dataset and static criteria weights, which may affect generalizability across different domains or dynamic environments. Future research should explore adaptive weighting mechanisms and validate the model on more diverse datasets. Originality/value – This research contributes a unified hybrid framework that combines entropy-based objective weighting with the MARCOS ranking method, providing a more transparent, data-driven, and stable approach for multi-criteria decision-making, particularly in credit risk prioritization contexts.

Abstract

Sharia compliance serves as an instrument for standardizing the measurement of halal-related assessments. However, in both practice and regulation, the halal tourism industry has not given sufficient attention to these indicators. This study aims to analyze the regulatory framework governing halal tourism and to examine the extent to which sharia compliance has been implemented by halal tourism operators in Banda Aceh City. This research employs an empirical-qualitative approach conducted in Banda Aceh City. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and field observations, guided by Banda Aceh City Qanun Number 3 of 2022 on the Implementation of Halal Tourism. The findings indicate that regulations governing the halal industry are stipulated in Banda Aceh City Qanun Number 3 of 2022 on the Implementation of Halal Tourism, which is substantively based on the DSN-MUI Fatwa on halal tourism. In this regard, sharia compliance implemented by tourism operators in Banda Aceh City has conformed to the prevailing regulatory provisions. This research emphasizes that the internalization of Sharia principles in the Halal Tourism Qanun has been maximally absorbed, resulting in safe, comfortable, and sustainable halal tourism practices.

Abstract

Innovative campus ecosystems represent a paradigm shift in higher education management by integrating advanced digital technologies into teaching, administration, and campus operations. Unlike traditional campuses that rely on fragmented, manual systems, smart campuses are interconnected digital ecosystems supported by the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and robust information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in the context of Nigerian Islamic education. The primary objective of this study is to investigate how innovative campus ecosystems contribute to economic efficiency and financial sustainability in higher education institutions, while also highlighting the role of effective IT governance. This paper employs a qualitative literature review to synthesise recent scholarly research on smart campus implementation, focusing on the economic, technological, and governance dimensions. The analysis explores how intelligent energy management, automated administrative processes, and predictive analytics enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve financial planning. The findings suggest that innovative campus ecosystems significantly enhance institutional efficiency, support evidence-based decision-making, and promote innovation and collaboration among stakeholders. However, their implementation faces challenges related to governance complexity, funding limitations, digital inequality, and cybersecurity risks. The study concludes that strong IT governance, strategic leadership, and long-term policy alignment are crucial to achieving sustainable and innovative campus development and to advancing future empirical research in Nigerian Islamic education.

Abstract

This research explores the modernization of Islamic legal administration in Nigeria through digital innovation, addressing the growing need to transition from inefficient manual judicial processes. The objective is to analyse the intersection of digital transformation and Shari’ah legal practice, identifying specific opportunities and obstacles within the Nigerian plural legal system. Applying a doctrinal and analytical methodology, the study reviews academic literature, statutory laws, and policy reports. The results identify significant opportunities, including increased judicial efficiency through e-filing and virtual hearings, and improved access to legal knowledge via AI-driven research tools and Shari’ah-sensitive chatbots. However, the study also highlights critical challenges, including poor broadband infrastructure, a digital literacy gap among practitioners, and the risk of compromising the theological authenticity of Shari’ah in a digital space. The main novelty lies in the argument that digital tools must be strictly contextualised within Islamic legal ethics, such as Maqasid al-Shari’ah, in which technology serves as a decision-support system rather than a replacement for human ijtihad. Ultimately, this research impacts the field by proposing a collaborative framework between scholars, technologists, and judicial institutions to create a sustainable digital Islamic legal ecosystem that balances technological innovation with doctrinal integrity.
