Abstract

Writing in Arabic remains a persistent challenge for non-native university learners, primarily due to the interplay between structural limitations and affective barriers—an intersection that has received limited integrative investigation. This study aims to identify and analyze the main obstacles faced by students in Arabic academic writing using the CAF (Complexity, Accuracy, Fluency) framework, as conceptualized by Barrot and Agdeppa (2021), which serves as the primary analytical lens. A descriptive-qualitative approach was employed, involving textual analysis of student writing samples and thematic analysis of responses collected through a Google Form questionnaire. The findings reveal that students struggle to construct complex syntactic structures, maintain grammatical accuracy, and sustain coherent idea development. These three dimensions are interdependent and further exacerbated by psychological factors such as fear of making mistakes and low self-confidence. The study concludes that writing difficulties are not purely linguistic but are also shaped by affective and cognitive dimensions. Theoretically, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the interrelationship between linguistic competence and psychological readiness in academic writing. Practically, the findings offer pedagogical implications for designing more integrative writing instruction that emphasizes syntactic exploration, functional grammar internalization, and the development of metacognitive strategies.

Abstract

Authentic video is one of the media that can be used in the process of learning to write Arabic because it has many benefits such as providing a real picture of the use of language in life and cultural insights, improving students' language learning experience, and stimulating student interest and involvement in the learning process. This study aims to explain students' perceptions of the use of authentic videos in learning to write Arabic. This research used quantitative design and was conducted on 34 students of Arabic Language and Literature UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Students who have finished the Arabic writing course are asked to fill out a questionnaire through Google Form. The results of this study show that students have a positive perspective on the use of authentic videos in learning to write Arabic. Authentic videos are considered to provide contextual and imaginative depictions of real-life objects and situations and can inspire students to be more involved in learning languages. Therefore, it can increase demand and motivation in learning to write Arabic. Abstract

This study examines how Nabati Poetry is transformed within the digital ecosystem of TikTok. The research explores the ways in which poetic structure adapts to the platform’s logics, the role of audiences in shaping contemporary popular literary practices, and the negotiation of authenticity within participatory digital spaces. Employing a multimodal digital ethnography approach combined with qualitative content analysis, six TikTok videos featuring Nabati Poetry published between 2020 and 2025 were purposively selected based on audience engagement and thematic richness. The findings reveal that structural adaptation occurs through compressed verses, heightened emotional intensity, and expressive visuality in order to align with TikTok’s algorithmic dynamics. Audiences emerge not merely as passive recipients but as value curators, actively shaping performative norms and determining the visibility of poetic content. Authenticity, moreover, is shown to be negotiated not only through adherence to classical forms but also through cultural resonance, visual strategies, and participatory relevance. This study contributes to Arabic digital literary studies by demonstrating how platform cultures reshape oral traditions through remediation, audience agency, and sociotechnical aesthetics.
