Abstract

Abstract

Through the use of interactive 3D media, this study aims to examine how the Discovery learning model affects seventh-grade students' academic achievement. This research is motivated by the insufficient diversity of learning media utilized in the classroom. A nonequivalent control group design is applied in the research approach, which is quasi-experimental. The experimental class will implement the Discovery Learning model utilizing 3D media, while the control group will use the same model without the support of 3D media. The employed sample method is purposive sampling. A student response questionnaire and an exam with twenty-four objective questions make up the research tools. Parametric tests, particularly t-tests, were used for data analysis, along with tests for normality and homogeneity. Results of the student response questionnaire regarding with the use of interactive 3D media, the Discovery Learning model achieved a 95% success rate, which is considered excellent. A total implementation rate of 97.94% was determined to be indicative of successful implementation of the Discovery Learning Model accompanied by interactive 3D media, according to the observation data. The t-value of 2.18 is higher than the t-table value of 2.00, leading to the rejection of H₀ in the hypothesis test. This indicates that student learning outcomes in grade VII of senior high school are significantly influenced by the Discovery Learning Model supported by 3D interactive media covering material about the Earth and the solar system.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning, analyze its effect, and explore students’ responses to the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model assisted by Mind Mapping in improving the problem-solving skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 7 Padang. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design model. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, with class VII.6 as the experimental group and class VII.8 as the control group, each consisting of 32 students. The research instruments included essay tests on problem-solving skills, observation sheets on the implementation of learning, and student response questionnaires. The findings showed that the implementation of learning by the teacher reached an average of 98% and by students 88%, both categorized as very good. Hypothesis testing using a parametric t-test indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, with a result of t-count = 5.88 > t-table = 1.99, so H1 was accepted. This indicates that the CPS model assisted by Mind Mapping has a significant effect on problem-solving skills. Students’ responses were categorized as very positive, with an average percentage of 82.45%.It can be concluded that the Creative Problem Solving learning model assisted by Mind Mapping has a positive and significant effect on the problem-solving skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 7 Padang.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in science subject are mainly caused by conventional learning models and limited instructional media, resulting in minimal student interest, motivation, and participation. This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Crossword Puzzle on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at MTsN 7 Padang. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a non-equivalent control group design. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, with class VIII.1 as the experimental group and class VIII.2 as the control group. Data were collected through outcome tests pretest and posttest using multiple-choice items, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires, analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The findings show that learning implementation reached 98% for teacher activities and 93% for student activities, both categorized as very good. The average posttest score of the experimental group 87.86 was higher than the control group 63.45. Hypothesis testing showed thitung 7.037 > ttabel 2.004, leading to the rejection of H0. Student responses were positive, at 71.35%, categorized as good. These results show that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Crossword Puzzle significantly affects the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at MTsN 7 Padang.
