Abstract

Penyakit DBD ialah sebuah penyakit yang biasanya terjadi di Indonesia, terus menjadi ancaman serius bagi kesehatan masyarakat, terutama bagi kaum muda. Salah satu manifestasi klinis yang sering terjadi adalah perdarahan, yang kerap dikaitkan dengan penurunan jumlah trombosit. Namun, tidak semua pasien dengan trombosit rendah mengalami perdarahan. Tujuannya studi ini guna melihat hubungannya antara jumlah trombosit dengan manifestasi klinis perdarahan pada pasien anak DBD di RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek. Temuan studi bahwa kasus DBD pada anak paling sering mengalami trombositopenia sedang 50.000-100.000/mm3 besarannya (42,6%) manifestasi klinis perdarahan yang paling sering terjadi yakni petekie dan epitaksis (69,3%). Melihat analisis data memakai uji chi- square memperlihatkan nilai p= 0,605 (p 0,05), ini bisa dikatakan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara jumlah trombosit dengan manifestasi klinis perdarahan pada pasien anak DBD di RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek. Kesimpulannya, tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara jumlah trombosit dengan manifestasi klinis perdarahan pada pasien anak DBD di RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek.

Abstract

Background: The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is an integrated home-based record and health-education resource that supports child growth monitoring, nutrition, immunization, feeding practices, and early recognition of health problems. Maternal understanding of the handbook may influence how effectively its information is applied in daily childcare. Purpose: To examine the association between maternal knowledge of the MCH Handbook and the nutritional status of children aged 6–59 months at Rajabasa Indah Public Health Center, Bandar Lampung. Method: This cross-sectional analytic study included 100 mother–child pairs recruited through convenience sampling in 2026. Maternal knowledge was assessed using a questionnaire, and child nutritional status was determined from anthropometric measurements using the weight-for-length/height indicator. Descriptive statistics summarized the study variables, and the chi-square test assessed the association between maternal knowledge and nutritional status. Results: Good knowledge of the MCH Handbook was reported by 82 mothers (82.0%), while 14 (14.0%) had poor knowledge and 4 (4.0%) had moderate knowledge. Eighty-three children (83.0%) had normal nutritional status, 14 (14.0%) were undernourished, and 3 (3.0%) were overnourished. Maternal knowledge was significantly associated with child nutritional status (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Maternal knowledge of the MCH Handbook was associated with the nutritional status of children aged 6–59 months. Because the study was cross-sectional and several contingency-table cells were sparse, the findings indicate an association rather than a causal effect.

Abstract

Background: Dermatoglyphic patterns develop during embryogenesis and are influenced by genetic and intrauterine factors. Trisomy 21 may alter epidermal ridge formation, making fingerprint patterns a potential non-invasive supportive marker of developmental variation. Purpose: To compare participant-level categorical fingerprint patterns between children with and without Down syndrome. Method: This comparative cross-sectional study included 59 participants: 29 children with Down syndrome and 30 children without Down syndrome. Fingerprint impressions were obtained using an ink pad and fingerprint paper, and each child was assigned one participant-level category (loop, whorl, or arch). Fisher's exact test compared the loop and whorl distributions because no arch patterns were observed; p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Loop patterns were reported in 23 children with Down syndrome (79.3%) and 27 children without Down syndrome (90.0%). Whorl patterns were reported in 6 children with Down syndrome (20.7%) and 3 children without Down syndrome (10.0%); no arch patterns were identified. The distribution was not significantly different between groups (p = 0.299). Conclusion: Participant-level loop, whorl, and arch pattern distributions were not significantly different between children with and without Down syndrome in this sample. These broad categories should not be interpreted as a stand-alone diagnostic marker.
