Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly generative artificial intelligence (generative AI), has brought about significant changes, especially in higher education. This condition requires students not only to understand the use of basic digital tools but also to master advanced digital literacy, which includes evaluative, strategic, and adaptive abilities in response to technological automation. This study aims to explore students’ readiness to master advanced digital literacy and identify the factors influencing it. This study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students in the Civic Education Study Program at Halu Oleo University. The findings show that students demonstrate high readiness to utilize AI for academic needs and technological adaptation. However, this readiness is not balanced with adequate information validation abilities, understanding AI mechanisms, and awareness of digital ethics. These findings align with advanced digital literacy theories that emphasize the evaluative, ethical, and critical aspects of modern technology use. The tables included in this study reinforce the pattern that students’ readiness tends to be stronger in operational aspects but weaker in reflective and evaluative ones. This study contributes to the development of a more adaptive advanced digital literacy learning model in higher education for the generative AI ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract

Legal learning in the Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) study program plays a strategic role in shaping students’ legal awareness as prospective civic educators. This study aims to reveal how the legal learning process contributes to strengthening the civic legal literacy of PPKn students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Halu Oleo. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten PPKn students from the 2025 cohort, observation, and documentation study, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldāña. The findings reveal five main themes representing the strengthening of students’ civic legal literacy: the strengthening of legal understanding and knowledge, the effectiveness of case-based learning, increased awareness of rights and obligations and a supportive attitude toward fair law enforcement, strengthened critical thinking and anti-hoax legal literacy, and the concrete application of legal values in daily life. This study confirms that civic legal literacy is formed through a graduated process from knowledge to legal behavior, and that case-based learning proves to be an effective key strategy, although the complexity of legal language and limited field practice experience remain challenges that require attention

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions and attitudes of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) students at Universitas Halu Oleo toward the values of Pancasila amid the post-truth phenomenon, and to describe how they respond to digital information that contradicts those values. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with eight active PPKn students and analyzed thematically. The findings show that students possess a conceptually mature perception of Pancasila values and a solid understanding of post-truth characteristics, largely shaped by their coursework. Indonesian Unity and Just and Civilized Humanity were perceived as the values most frequently challenged in digital spaces. In terms of attitude, students demonstrated a skeptical-reflective response pattern, applied layered verification strategies, and acted as informal digital-literacy educators for their peers and families. However, a "silent bystander" phenomenon was also identified among fellow students, indicating a gap between cognitive awareness and the courage to act. These findings suggest that strengthening conceptual understanding through Pancasila and Civic Education should be balanced with strengthening students' self-efficacy and constructive critical attitudes to face disinformation more effectively
