Abstract

ABSTRACT Thyroid disorders are one of the most common endocrine health problems after diabetes and affect the body's metabolism and hormonal function. This study aims to describe the immunological examination results of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Free Thyroxine (FT4) levels in patients with thyrotoxicosis- type thyroid disorders atPKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Yogyakarta, from 2020– 2025. The study employed a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach based on secondary data from medical records and laboratories. The study sample consisted of 34 thyrotoxicosis patients selected using consecutive sampling. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods using Spearman's correlation test. The results showed that the majority of patients were female(82.4%), with the majority aged 30–59 years (70.6%). Most patients had low TSH levels (58.8%), and all patients hadhigh FT4 levels (100%). The correlation test showed no significant association between age or gender and TSH and FT4 levels (p0.05). This study concluded that the majority of thyrotoxicosis patients were women of reproductive age, with low TSH and high FT4 levels, without any significant association with age or gender. Keywords: Thyroid disorders, Thyrotoxicosis, TSH, FT4, Imunology  ABSTRAK Gangguan tiroid merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan endokrin terbanyak setelah diabetes dan memengaruhi metabolisme serta fungsi hormonal tubuh.

Abstract

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection with clinical symptoms of mucosal inflammation and pus formation in the genital area due to infection with the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Transmission of gonorrhea infection can occur when the bacteria are transmitted through bodily fluids, sexual contact with sufferers, and deviant social behavior (MSM or FSW). Examination of patients diagnosed with gonorrhea requires accurate validation of results to improve internal quality, so that internal quality assurance of examinations is necessary. This study aims to determine the microscopic appearance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria in gonorrhea patients and to strengthen its internal quality assurance at the Puskesmas (Primary Health Center) Gedongtengen, Yogyakarta. The study used a descriptive study using a cross-sectional method. Data samples were taken from the medical records of patients who underwent gonorrhea examinations from January to May 2025 with a total of 35 patients, and positive results were dominated by female patients, with 8 patients. Gonorrhea examinations were carried out using the Gram staining method and then examined microscopically. The positive specimens showed clear morphology of DGNI (Gram-Negative Intracellular Diplococci) and PMN (Polymorphonuclear Cells), coffee bean-shaped, non-spore-forming, and non-motile bacteria. The entire examination process, including result validation and quality assessment, followed standard operating procedures (SOPs). The internal quality assurance assessment for gonorrhea examinations at Puskesmas Gedongtengen laboratory have met the standards with good qualifications, as stated in Puskesmas Gedongtengen SOP policy 43/UKPP/LAB/2023 concerning Internal Quality Assurance for Gonorrhea Examination.

Abstract

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are a condition that occurs in individuals suffering from diabetes mellitus due to damage to the nerves and peripheral arteries, leading to wound infections and damage to the skin tissue. The focus of this research is to determine the prevalence by gender, the types of bacteria that infect diabetic ulcers, and the patterns of antibiotic sensitivity at a hospital in Yogyakarta in 2024. This research employs a descriptive analytic design using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique uses total sampling, selecting all members of the population who meet inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data for this study were obtained from medical records during the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2024, with a total sample size of 86 diabetic ulcer patients. Of these patients, 53 are male and 33 are female who suffer from Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with complications of diabetic ulcers. In addition, this research found 26 types of bacteria, where gram-negative bacteria are more dominant with 51 samples, while gram-positive bacteria amount to 35 samples. The most dominant type of gram-negative bacteria detected is Escherichia coli, while the most commonly identified gram-positive bacteria is Staphylococcus aureus. The antibiotics that are sensitive to gram-negative bacteria are meropenem, cefepime, and chloramphenicol. Meanwhile, the effective antibiotics against gram-positive bacteria are linezolid, gentamicin, and ciprofloxacin.
