Abstract

This research examines the meaning of symbols in traditional dance movements in Kabola District, Alor Regency using a cultural anthropology perspective. The purpose of the research is to reveal and analyse the deep meaning of various symbols contained in the traditional dance movements of the Kabola community. The research method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach, involving field observations and interviews. The results showed that Kabola traditional dance movements have symbolic meanings that are closely related to the belief system, social values, and worldview of the local community. Each dance movement represents various aspects of life such as human relationships with nature, respect for ancestors, fertility, and social harmony. The waving upward movement of the hands symbolises communication with the ancestors, while the rhythmic stomping of the feet depicts the strength and robustness of tradition. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Indonesia's rich culture, particularly in the context of the Kabola community, as well as highlighting the importance of preserving traditional values in the modern era

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to present the Exploration of Traditional Wicker Motifs of Mama Betel Place as Local Cultural Heritage of Tulleng Village, Lembur District, Alor Regency. The research technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative, interviews with community leaders Mr Imanuel Bailafa and Isak Samau in Tulleng Village, Lembur District, Alor Regency. The results of this study indicate that the people of Tulleng Village have a culture that is still maintained until now, this is indicated by the existence of a woven betel nut mama place as a Local Cultural Heritage of Tulleng Village, Lembur District, Alor Regency, which is usually used in traditional ceremonies, proposing or asking in a marriage. It has its own uniqueness and each of the motifs has a meaning

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to present the Philosophical Exploration of Adatia Traditional Musical Instruments of the Community of padang panjang village, alor timur sub-district. The research data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis. The data used in the research is qualitative data. The data collection technique was carried out in two ways, namely field observation and interviews. This research was conducted in Padang Panjang Village, East Alor District, Alor Regency. The information in this study is a traditional leader. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the use of traditional musical instruments; (2) magna traditional musical instruments; (3) musical instruments can be used in various activities. The results of this study can be concluded that the Padang Panjang Village Community has an interesting traditional musical instrument tradition

Abstract

This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning and aesthetics of accessories on traditional clothing of the Maleipea Village community, South Alor Sub-district, Alor Regency. Traditional clothing accessories in this village not only function as a fashion complement, but also contain cultural values that represent the identity, social status, and spirituality of the local community. This research uses a qualitative method. With an ethnographic approach, this research involved data collection techniques, namely participant observation and in-depth interviews to explore a deep understanding of the role of accessories in daily life and traditional ceremonies. The data analysis technique used, namely qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that each element of accessories, from materials to colours, has its own symbolism that reflects the community's harmonious relationship with nature as well as traditional values that have been passed down from generation to generation. In addition, the aesthetics of the accessories are reflected in the use of natural materials such as native rattan (tibu), wire, red cloth, chicken feathers, forest deli fruit, yarn, and fan rope (van belt) arranged with traditional craft techniques. This research makes an important contribution to the preservation of local culture as well as a reference in the development of Nusantara cultural studies.
