Abstract

                       AbstractIn this study, an approach was applied that could help students to develop description writing skills. The learning approach used is a contextual approach to help students develop their ideas and thoughts. Based on this statement, the researcher used a learning approach that the teacher had never used before. the learning approach in question is a contextual approach. This study uses a quasi-experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of class III A as the experimental group and class III B as the control group selected by random sampling technique. The tool for collecting data in the form of essays 1 question is used to collect data on students' writing skills. The effect of the contextual approach on the description writing skills of students in 66 Public Schools in Pontianak City. The results of this study are t-count test (4,1068) and t (table) (α = 5% and dk = 32 + 29 - 2 = 59) 2,0011. Because t count (4.1068)> t table (2.0011), H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. the contextual approach influences the writing essay skills in the 66 elementary schools of Pontianak City. Keywords: Authors Description, Contextual Approach, Writing Skills
