Safety and security are top priorities in maritime transportation, with navigation systems being a crucial factor influencing the competence of ship crews. This study aims to analyze the impact of onboard navigation systems on the competence of the crew of MV. Mochtar Prabu Mangkunegara. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method, incorporating literature review and data analysis from questionnaires processed using Correlation Coefficients and Simple Linear Regression via SPSS. The results show a very strong and positive correlation (r = 0,772) between onboard navigation systems and crew competence, with each unit increase in the navigation system leading to a 0.542 unit increase in crew competence. The determination coefficient (R²) of 59.6% indicates that onboard navigation systems are a dominant factor influencing crew competence, although 40.4% of other factors also contribute. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing navigation systems and training programs to improve crew competence, which ultimately contributes to increased safety and operational efficiency in maritime operations.
