The PMM programme encompasses educational efforts on the hazards of plastic, initiatives to replace plastic bags with environmentally friendly alternatives, and a healthy living campaign featuring HiuKOL® herbal products. This community service initiative seeks to introduce innovations for a plastic-free market and to enhance public health in Dhomplang Market, engaging market traders as key partners. Pre- and post-activity surveys involving 150 traders and market visitors revealed a 99% reduction in plastic use and an 85% increase in awareness of the negative effects of plastic. Additionally, participation in routine health checks rose by 75%. The results indicate that the plastic-free market model not only holds promise for reducing plastic waste but also for boosting public health awareness. This programme is expected to be sustainable and adaptable for implementation in other markets, contributing to the development of environmentally friendly and health-conscious marketplaces.
